Have never seen the "glue down method" in person it peaks my interest though. I wonder is it really that superior to super 77? And why not put the glue on the slate instead of the cloth? I will be trying it on my home table the next time i recover it so like about everything else i will teach myself since im surounded by hacks in this god forsaken place.

Glue is applied to slate edge AND cloth. You have to use it as a contact adhesive otherwise the hold strength is weak.
3M10 is more heavy duty then Super 77 and holds better when you have big-time stretch.
You should get with one of the guys from the Cincy area that attended the seminar to see how it's done.

Both the cloth and slate, just like cushions, got it. Ive always used weldwood for my contact cement. Is 3M10 that much better?

I missed Alsip by a month when i joined or i would have definitely been there. It seems as if that is a once in a great, great while thing.

Jim,
I'm very familiar with the glue method. I highly recommend it and would be happy to show you how its done!

I'm in Dayton, and was fortunate enough to be able to stick around the seminar for a couple extra days. I used to 77 bed cloths and Weldwood rubber to the rails. Now I 3M10 all of it and love it. I am sold on the glue-down method.

By the way, be careful with the "surrounded by hacks" comment. I'm right in your back yard and do a lot of work in Cincy. ;)
