Police looking for Road Player

evilmoody1

friends say i'm abrasive
I've seriously debated with myself over whether or not to start a thread about this, and I decided to take some advice from you guys about it.

An alleged crime happened at a recent overnight mini tourney for an APA event. It has seriously affected those involved and the guy the police are looking for is a road player who plays as a 7 in the APA. At this time I'm not going to post his name, but I've known him for the past few months.

He allegedly committed a violent crime against a girl that was rooming with his team for the evening.
I just want to say that the only people that know what happened for sure were in that room, but he has since completely disappeared (all his things are gone from his residence & supposedly no one has seen or heard from him)
The police are trying to locate him and are having no luck.
I will not be posting the girls name, and I'll post his name(depending on feedback) only because the police have been trying to track him down.
I'm only bringing this up because things like this happen alot, and if he did do
it,
1. I would like this not to happen in another town or state to another girl
2. The police are looking for him
3. Since he's a road player he might show up where one of you guys might see him
Please give me your feedback.

If the police are looking for him, then I don't see any reason why you wouldn't put his name, description and anything else that will help to locate him. When or if he gets caught, he'll get his day in court.

I agree with you on this one Rick. Whether he did it or not, he needs to be questioned. This is someone that may have hurt, raped, molested, or robbed another person, they NEED to be questioned and/or caught. The sooner the better, because if he comes here and does this, he'll wish he was caught long ago.

His disappearance only makes him look guilty. Assisting in his capture will prevent this happening to another girl.

Please keep in mind his guilt is not known in this, but if you post his name, he will be branded in the pool community as a criminal.

People only remember the headlines and never the retractions.

I agree with everyone that has posted. The truth needs to come to light. Like Marissa said his disappearing doesnt help any.

I agree with what everyone is saying. This guy needs to be brought in for questioning. But, you have to be careful about posting his name. He might be able to sue you for it. I'll have to ask my lawyer friends about it.

I would agree with you under most circumstances but when someone has been injured due to a crime, all bets are off. Like Marissa said, he could hurt someone else while pondering the morality of posting his name.

Yeah, I agree with everyone else. His disappearance makes guilt come to everyone's mind. I think his name needs to be posted so we can all help with his whereabouts.

As others have already said, he should be made public so the authorities can question him as needed. This is a very small community and all need to help if we can.

It is not illegal to post his name, as you have said he is wanted by the police for questioning in a violent crime. No one has presumed his guilt. Those are facts, therefore, no slander is being made.

Thanks guys that's same way I feel
His name is Ignacio Chavez, nickname is Nacho. he is about 5'7" and about 175-180 lbs, probably in his 50's with salt and pepper hair. He's originally from Mexico. I believe he even played on a team for Mexico sometime in the past 2 years at a tourney in Aruba. If anyone sees or hears The police in Alsip, Illinois are looking to question him.

I spoke with him right before he forfeited out of the tourney and left. Unfortunately I was still shooting in same tourney. The alleged assault happened about 10 minutes before I spoke w/him on his way out the door exactly as the cops were taking his roommate in custody(quickly releasing him as he had given his room key to Ignacio) My friends didn't want to tell me about while I was shooting, (they only had description at the time no name)not that I didn't know something was up, from all the stuff going on. The room in question was next to ours and I knew the people in it and what all of them looked like. If they had told me he wouldn't have made it out the door. There were lots of guys still around to have stopped him.

It is small & we help each other out when we can. I've grown up around pool players & have done what I could to help them out, when I could. That would include letting them crash in my hotel if they didn't have a room, maybe letting them borrow my car (depending on the circumstances)..... I'm pretty careful about who I would let crash in my hotel but who knows... if I see they're friends with some of my good friends, I might go by that alone & be more generous than I would if I had just met them & knew nothing about them. That being said...that girl could've easily been me, or any other girl on this forum or pool league that has helped out a player in need (all players are in need, esp road players). I think his name needs to be posted. If nothing else, be willing to give the name to a female if they PM'd you for it.... JMO

:::edit::: you beat me to it, but I'm going to leave my post up anyway. ;)

Well, that narrows it down to about 5 billion. J/K, you did the right thing, hopefully someone on here will know where he is and then the police can handle it from there.

I don't believe I did say that he did the crime, only that the police are looking to question him in regards to it, which is public knowledge, and on police reports.

You should post the name of the detective in charge of the case and his telephone number. Local authorities will need this information should this person be apprehended.

Marissa it would actually be libel, not slander.

Slander is spoken, libel is written.

Let me toss out a few things. First the nature of the crime is not known to the posters here. Many, including myself, read into the first post and think rape. If you put a players name up as the alleged offender, people will skip the alleged part and move straight to the player being a rapist.

What if its not true? You cannot unring a bell once its been rung.

I think if you have to pass around the name, use back channels like PM.

Moral issue is whether he is innocent until proven guilty or whether public safety is so compromised by his being at large, that the community has to be notified.

The way it is presented here leads to a presumption of guilt and the need to "protect" someone from the same fate.

I'll take a step further. If you were in that room, why not tell us what you saw and or know as the facts of the matter.

If it's so bad he needs to be hunted down and shot......why wasn't it stopped by the others in the room?
