Hello everyone,

I have a pool buddy of mine that is in Greensboro all of this week. I did a search and found a few suggestions on where to go like Breakers and Cue and Spirits. My friend was wondering if anybody is willing to meet up and play a few games. He's not looking for any kind of action other than maybe a few beers or something small...if that. He's just wanting to play a little pool while being over there for his work. He said that he's staying at the Marriott by downtown so if you guys have any suggestions on where to go that's around that area just post it up or shoot me a pm if he can contact you. Thanks everyone.

Tell him to try BG McGhee's on the corner of Hilltop-High Point Rd. during the day. If not there, Shooter's 2 blks down the road. Breaker's is a private club, he might have trouble getting in there. Maybe someone will sign him in??

they wont let someone sign you in at breakers, least they wouldnt me. I did get into cue and spirits that way though. Might want to consider running to winston salem to cue and spirits there, alot of action, only 20 or 30 mins from gboro. I dont think ill be in greensboro any this week or weekend but if something changes ill pm you, id meet him and shoot a few

Breakers is a nice place. Good crowd, well run and in nice shape. Mainly Gold Crowns and a few Diamonds. You can get games for fun or beers or dollars. Whatever you want. Breakers is probably the closest to downtown - near the corner of Friendly and Guilford. You can probably buy a membership for a couple of dollars or get a member to sign your friend in. BG McGhee's and Cue n' Spirits are okay. Shooters is, IMO, a dump.

How about colliseum billiards? ofcourse u have to be quick in calling for yore friend Mr.Wesson if u want to play there.

Thanks guys. He looked in the phonebook and found triangle billiards. Is that any good??

You can say that again!

I lived there for 6 yrs. Eddie is a good friend of mine. We used to play golf a couple times a week. I'm still in contact with him.

I remember when 2 guys came thru the front door with a shotgun firing into the ceiling as soon as they were inside the door. Talking about getting your attention! My buddy Mike was working the register...he took out the backdoor FAST.

They went over to Eddie's table (Ultimate) where he and Nappy Smith were involved in their usual 1 hole game, and threw down on them. Eddie stood up to them, and only gave them 1/2 of what he had. Can you imagine??

He also had a 'home invasion' at his house...he wasn't there, but his Wife was. He was known to carry large sums of $$$$ (still is!) and they went where they thought he kept it. His house....It terrified her, and daughter. Once the crooks left, she did too. Never to set foot back in THAT house. He had to buy another house and move, because of it.

Eddie is one hell of a guy, and loves to bet it up! I miss him.......

Now your talking about Baker's. That was before my time there. But, I heard plenty about it. Poppa was a hell of a hustler, wasn't he?? I met him as soon as I hit town. He could hit em' pretty good, with that 'standing stroke'. He couldn't bend over........

Bad part was, he got shot over a fake 'wad'. It was actually a couple bills outside with the 1/2 the Greensboro phone book inside. He got shot walking out the door.

Man, could he talk &$#$, and sing a little bit too.

He had been shot at coliseum also. Then they got him again at bakers. Which was the last time:( Pops was a great player/hustler. Once he asked me for 5-dollars and i was young and said sure i will loan you 5-bucks. He said naw man i don't need a loan i need 5-bucks. LOL!!!

I wasd in GB in the 80's when Ghetto Steve burned the original colliseum down. LOL. Mason was the houseman. My friend Mark owned the playroom & my girlfriend at the time worked there. In my great wisdom I got broke & pawned my Szamboti w/4 shafts for 300.00. Who knew! Lots of action in that area in those days. i deposited most of my money in the bar at New York pizza which I beleive is still there. Does anyone out there know if Mark Heaton is still living?

Mason.....He was still running around when I left 5 yrs ago. Still pretty spry for an older dude. Still hitting them pretty good when I left.

Just heard Butch (black dude who worked on tables-cues) from Greensboro passed on. He was about 60 or so. He was a regular for many years.
