Moori Tips

I received a letter from Joe Pechauer recently that said Moori tips would no longer be made available in the US, and that any that are sold here could be fakes and they would no longer use them on any products.

Has anyone else heard this about Moori tips?

Unless there's something new, I highly doubt it. Theses rumors keep going around, but just won't die. Do a search for other threads on this subject.

I've known this for fact for some time now and I actually posted about it couple months ago, maybe more, I can't remember, it is true, I have spoken to some guys who know the original person who created moori, and I asked them what happened to the tips, why is it discontinued, they said the guy just want to retire, and stop working, he wants to take the time off basically due to his age, I didn't ask no more, but I do believe that Moori is discontinued what whatever you find at your market right now is either an old which was stored at the store shelf or whatever.

i've talked to shops that have had them on back order as long as a year, so i'd guess this is reasonable. They still are as on backorder though, not a no longer available through the distributors, so i'm not sure.

As far as I know Mooris are still available. get with poolchady on here if you want some.

This is a disgrace that anyone would perpetuate such rumors against one of, if not the finest tip on the market. Pechauer is misinformed and/or uninformed either by choice or ignorance or a combination of the two. I would like to know his source for such misinformation.

Moori tips are available as any other tip on the market through Seyberts, Mueller's, CueStix, Pooldawg, and myself as well as a host of others. So, anyone who says they are on back order or they can't get them doesn't know what they're talking about.

It's a shame that BS like this has to even have a voice on here.

Hate to burst your bubble, but all hardnesses of Moori tips show as "backorder" at Mueller's. I haven't checked the rest, but I know Mueller's has a decent inventory system behind their site. You can check for yourself if you'd like

Oh pardon me I may have made a mistake in that Mueller's doesn't have any at this very moment.

to name a few of many....
Seyberts - in stock
CueStix – in stock by phone
PoolDawg – in stock
CueComponents – in stock
Unique Products – in stock

Many dealers and companies got their supplies from a supplier that is now a defunct Moori supplier and as such they have not yet found a source with similar pricing so they are out-of-stock. Supplies are available to them at similar pricing as they were paying through the defunct Moori dealer. As it appears, some may not have found that new supplier.

Joe, the info I read about Mr. Moori deciding to retire sounds true, and isn't it natural? He's an old man and even if he made enough tips he will eventually stop (he must have already done that actually). No doubt the stock in the US is still enough to serve current needs, but the general idea is that Moori tips are probably discontinued as of now. So as soon as US dealers are out of their tips they are not going to have any new supplies.
You can keep the info secret if you like, but for example how many Moori do you have in stock?

I don't know why I bother!

The top 10 reasons this thread is BS.

#1
Can you please show me the credible source where you "read about Mr. Moori deciding to retire"?

#2
So, Mr. Moori who has a multi million dollar business just decided to retire and said screw my business and I am closing it down.

#3
Mr. Moori never thought of selling his business to anyone in the USA or elsewhere in the world because no one would be interested in buying his successful, thriving and profitable business.

#4
There are shortages because the now defunct Moori supplier in the USA can no longer get them direct so many dealers who use to purchase from them no longer have a source.

#5
When these merchants find the new source, they will have supplies.

In answer to your question, we currently have well over 1,000 tips in stock and expect to be sold-out by the weekend. (we have a sale going on)

#7
We just received confirmation this morning of a shipment leaving Japan to us.

#8
We expect another shipment next week as well.

#9
You have to ask yourself, who has the most to gain from this misinformation?

#10
Moori tips are alive, well, genuine, still manufactured in Japan and still being supplied from Japan as of November 8th, 2012.

Mr. Moori is difficult to deal with, makes his own rules, answers phones and faxes when he feels like it. This is discouraging to most but a select few who can still deal with him.

Moori tips are alive and well and flowing into the USA on a regular basis to a select few only.

I found the closest tip that feels like a old Moori but has better longevity. A tip that is on the Longoni website - and I believe Longoni use them on their cues. 5 Layer/ holds chalk really well /and doesn't get ultra hard over time.

"DaVinci" available thru Pool Dawg - $12.50 each

Well thank you as that is appreciated. You are obviously a man of superior taste and quality who demands nothing but the best in everything.

You can definitely say that (except for my football team the Vikings lol).

On a side note, I could be mistaken, but I believe Paul Sumrall got my wood from you on my cocobolo cue that I currently own. She's a beauty for sure! Sorry for the thread derail....carry on with the false rumors!

Joe, I just looked at all the tips on your site, impressive. Also gotta say, I agree with your opinions on Moori...ie, if he were retiring, why not sell a great business? Probably a Kamui planted rumor. I used to use Moori but switched to Kamui soft a few years ago and still use them today, but am able to get them cheaper than map (shhh!). Seemed like the Mooris changed and played different, maybe I got some counterfeits several times, don't know for sure. Also, a few years ago I bought an incredible piece of Brazilian Rosewood from you and gave it to a cuemaker to build, but he died in the process and I'm still trying to recover it. But to my point, or question, cost aside, in your educated opinion, what is the best layered tip currently available, and why? Thanks...

Can't take the chance.

You have 1,000 MINUS TWELVE, LOL
I saw this threat AGAIN here on AZ, and I decided that I just couldn't take the chance that it's true...I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT MY MOORI MED.

Thanks for the dozen tips Joe. I actually put them into my safe, LOL:grin:

That...and I bought 3 predator first gen 314's. I'm also tired of looking for those every time I buy a cue. I think I'm covered for a while

BTW...a Med Moori on a 1st GEN 314....is THE DEAL !!!!!!!!!!!

To be honest, an original Predator with a Moori is a tough combination to beat!
