Hi,

I need to sell something and my Varneys did not sell so... any interest in an ebony Mordt/Barenbrugge Collaboration Cue? Here is a post from "Hunter" that has a great description and pictures, although my cue is not the ebony one in the picture: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=218379&highlight=Barenbrugge. My friend bought this one directly from Bryan for $575.

Butt: 15.005 oz w/almost .25 weight bolt so 14.75 oz w/o bolt (plenty of room for additional weight)

Shaft: 13mm 3.655 oz, a Hercules tip has been added

I took it in trade and would sell it for SOLD. They originally sold for $575 and from what I'm told they will not be made again so there are only maybe 5-6 of them. If there is interest I will take pictures and get all the specs.

My Varneys are still for sale, too :).

Thanks, Dave

Still for sale.

Here's what Steve "Hunter" sent me about this cue who was the original seller of most of these cues after I asked him if he had any people that were interested in buying this for $500:

"The blanks were made by Dave Barenbrugge, and are as rare as hen's teeth. I kept one myself, as Dave has primarily only dealt with Lucky, the big Japanese collector, and as far as I know has never sold any in this country. (my edit: now jazznpool is selling Dave's cues, but not before).

You should be able to get *** for the cue easily. I think I sold everyone that asked about them, except for a couple that Bryan kept, so I don't really have any backup buyers, but it should be pretty easy to sell.

Honestly, if you can afford to keep it, you might give it some thought. It takes a little while to get used to the taper, but when you do, it is a great playing cue.

I don't think you can find any better blank on a non-veneered player. I had a Searing sneaky that he'd converted out of a Dufferin. If he'd used one of these blanks, I'd never have even thought about letting it go!"

Bump :)

Bump it up for the night crew & more detailed specs in the 1st post.

Thanks for looking.

Saturday bump. Real nice cleanly styled cue here, with nice Looooong points - come and get it.

Bcm/Barrenbrugge

Bryan Mordt and Dave Barenbrugge are two top notch cue makers. A collaboration like this is definitely rare. The Barenbrugge blank itself has to be close to your selling price.
And of course, Mr. Mordt's fit and finish are amazing.

Best of luck with your sale. I'm sure someone will be very happy with this cue!

Thank you for the kind words, I agree on all counts :).

A little bump for a great guy with an awesome cue for sale!

Seriously folks, this is one of the best playing cues you can imagine. I use mine as my bar cue, and I can't imagine getting more cue for your money. Perfect workmanship, long even points, and a hit that is stiff, but not brick like.

It is a little bigger in the middle of the shaft, which I really like, as I like a weight forward cue. This taper took a little getting used to, but now it just feels really nice. I also changed the tip, as I like something a little softer than was initially on the cue. Now, it plays exactly to my liking...

Dave B. told me he had the blanks for over twenty years. He said they are a very dense maple with very little figuring. I have never seen points so long and even on a basic player's model. I've owned several sneakies and plane jane's, and even the ones by some real heavies in Cuemaker World weren't this nice. To get a collaboration between makers of this caliber is also something special.

If you're looking for a player's cue, you owe it to yourself to try this one out!

Good luck with your sale, Dave!

Thanks, Steve. I didn't see this until I bumped this thread :).
