Actually, Pool Shark is about heroin addiction. He just references pool when he says, "my baby likes to shoot pool".

a little different

The lyrics are a little bit different than Dave Dudley's "The Pool Shark" song about a pool player...
 
I heard a pretty good one yesterday on Public Radio by Cary Hudson called "8 Ball Blues". It really was a pretty good song.

...The Ska band The Toasters have a song called Pool Shark also. This song is totally about the pool game. Just an FYI.

Well, if you are warped like me, you will not limit yourself to pool songs. At my basement pool room, I have a sound system, 300 CD changer loaded with every good song ever made. When an opponent does something bad, I can immediately dial up the appropriate song (ie. Sell Out by Reel Big Fish, or Hey, Hey Goodbye by Steam). These songs are guaranteed to get a grin even from the sorest loser if they are played at exactly the right moment (just make sure you run out after dialing them up).
