Solution for Olhausen Death Rattle

This is a Goldenwest table, but the same can be done to Olhausen. This is a brand new table. Corner angle were 144 deg., Side angle 102 deg. I simply replaced the stock facing with a 1/4" thick facing and sanded the angle I wanted. Now its 141 deg corners and sides angles are consistant.;)

Donny, nice creative fix to change the corner angles to a more appropriate measurement, but I have a question. I was talking to Glen about the Olhausens and IIRC he mentioned that the Accufast cushions are also part of the problem. Because they are softer, when a ball hit down the rail comes in contact with the facing, the facing "opens up" more which tends to send the ball across the mouth to the other facing and causes the dreaded rattle. Is there a fix for this part of the problem?

Good Question, Well keep in mind, that this table had a 144 deg and Olhausens have a 143 deg. At 143 deg is when the ball rattles away from the pocket. I set these angles at 141 deg and there is still a 3/16" of facing left after sanding. Your question is, does that thickness of facing able to hold the angle of 141 on a firm shot down the rail. To be honest, I haven't yet tried this on an Olhausen:D, but I got twenty bucks that says it will.

I have an Olhausen and Glen used a similar method to help my "death rattle". It helped considerably.
