Sharing My Bad Luck.....

Let me tell you about my bad luck the past 24 hours..............

I finally got my cue from Jeff Olney yesterday. I ordered it last November, so I have waited around 7 months on it. I received it yesterday, and opened it at work. It was awesome, of course. I drove home from work, and when I got out of the car, I went to check my mail before I went into the house. As I was walking toward my door, I dropped one of the letters out of my hand. Not thinking, I bent over to pick it up. When I did, the cue slid out of the tub, and BAM, fell onto the concrete. And of course I put the cue back into the tube with the joint sides up. Now my brand new Olney has a huge chunk knocked out of the joint ring, the pin is scratched, and there is also a deep scratch on the butt side joint ring.

I was really pissed (as you can imagine). 7 months waiting, and ........well you get the picture.

I fumed for a while, watched the TAR match till around 11, then went to sleep. I woke up around 3:30 for some reason and finished watching the last 20 or so games of the MIke D - Chris B match, then went back to sleep.

I guess I didn't wake up on my own at 3:30, because when I got in my car this morning to go to work, someone had siphoned all of the gas out of my car (Durango), and I was afraid that I wasn't going to have enough to get to the gas station down the street. There was only a little more than a quarter tank in the car, but that's still around 25 bucks.

What ya gonna do??? Hopefully my luck will be better this weekend................

Mike

Doesn't sound like luck had much to do with it!! LOL :poke:

Locking gas cap.......a must in this day
The cue.....well.........ya big dummy! :D I've done the same thing! LOL. Have one in the shop right now getting repaired!

I'm much smarter now though!:shocked2:

Now you're due for a streak of good luck!!! Hope we get to hear about that too Mike!!

Ray

you're lucky they sypnoned the gas. around my parts they punch a hole in the tank and let the gas drain into a container that they can pick up later.

hope your luck turns around

:D You're right Ray. I should have titled it "Let me tell you what an idiot I am". I did pick up a locking gas cap on the way home from work today.

And I did learn a valuable lesson.

I hesitated posting in this thread at first because I don't need any bad luck myself, but after I noticed you were just being an idiot I now have no problem posting. LOL :D:D:D:D:D

Just messin' with ya Mike. Hope you are able to get your cue fixed.

Cue Fix

Let Scott and the crew take care of it at Proficient Billiards, if they put a cue thats been broken in half, Im confident they can fix any ring work etc. Hope your weekends good at least!!

You know Mike, these things always seem the worst right when they happen. After a day or so, we can put it in perspective. If this is the worst thing that happens to you, then it ain't so bad.

You can (and will) get the cue fixed. And you'll live without it until then. And what else? Oh that's it. Your new cue needs to be repaired? Is that all? See it's not so bad after all. :D

P.S. You'll never drop another cue in life. Trust me on that one. Let me tell you about the time I drove away with my cue on the roof of the car. It fell off on the freeway. UGLY!!! Try shooting with a right angle cue. :)

Sorry about your cue! But, it could be worse. My first wife ran into a parked car. Shoving it into the car in front of it. Totalled all 3 cars. Just before we hit, I just hapened to be looking at the houses, and saw a guy unlocking his front door. Turns out it was his car, and he had just drove it home from the showroom floor. It was brand new!

Another time, my first motorcycle got totaled before I even got it home. So I can understand how you feel.:frown:
I wonder what the hell your wife was looking at! LOL :)

I never feel a cue is "mine" until I personalize it.

Now, with that out of the way, you can really foucus on your game.

Good luck with your new cue.

Jesus, Mike!! I've never dropped one the first day, but I have done similar things. The latch on my Fellini got so it wouldn't snap shut over the years, and I've pointed the case down and had the top come off and the cue slide out, joint first. Never had a serious problem like yours, though. Had a borrowed Dufferin sneaky pete slide of the top of my car while putting a case in the car. Fumbled my second Southwest, dropped it on a Gold Crown, and put a nice ding in the forarm.
It'll be better tomorrow...or maybe next week;) At least it the gas that got stolen and not the cue!!
Miss seein' ya, Man!

Another way to think about it is, your cue has history and it hasn't even hit a ball. It will bring you years of laughter as you tell the story of how your first day with your new cue went.
Thanks for sharing.

Mike, Mike, Mike......

We buy you books, send you to school and this happens? Just goes to show that you should have gone straight to the pool hall after work.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I feel for you. Like Jay, I drove off with a cue/case sitting on the car. Lucky for me it fell off in the parking lot and I saw and retrieved it before any major damage.

Let me know if you need a cue while yours is being repaired.

Scott

AHHHHHG! That's really tough luck Mike. Maybe you could call it a battle scar. Concoct an elaborate and glorious gambling story with lots of money and hot chicks thrown in. Be sure to puff out you chest when you tell it.;)
