Attached images that are too wide

Am I missing something or does everyone have the same problem when an image is attached to a post that is too wide to fit the page?

On my browser, all the rest of the posts on that thread page no longer wrap their text as before and you then have to scroll every post to the right to see all of the text.

I think it's that way for everybody - you can zoom out, but then the print gets smaller too.

I learned along tome ago about the evils of horizontal scrolling. I resize my pics and cuss those who don't.

If you are using a PC with Paint software, which is free, you can pull up the photo in Paint. Then click "Resize." Depending on how big your photo is, you can reduce it.

With my digital camera, I have to reduce mine to about 15, both horizontally and vertically, to get a decent size photo to fit this forum software message window.

I will see if I can find the instructions from beginning to end. I have posted it several times. I will have to do a search to find the thread, and then I will post it in this thread. :)

Here's an old thread that describe the process in Paint software from beginning to end: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?p=3772273&highlight=Paint#post3772273

Here's a copy-and-paste of the instructions: Just use the PAINT software that comes with your Windows operating system. That is the easiest way to reduce the size of the JPEG file, so that you can ATTACH it to the message window.

This topic has come up many times. The SEARCH feature may help you, but I will provide a copy-and-paste of one of the other posts in this regard:

Use the Paint program. It's the easiest and you don't have to join anything.

Click START
Click on PROGRAMS.
Click on ACCESSORIES
In the dropdown window, click on PAINT.
Pull up picture in PAINT.
Click STRETCH/SKEW
Change HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL to same numbers. Depending on how big your photo is, I'd try 15 and 15 or 25 and 25.
Save it using a NEW NAME to your desktop.

Piece of cake.

After you do this, then you ATTACH it to your post using the MANAGE ATTACHMENT button under the window that says "Additional Options." It is self-explanatory after you attach it. You click CHOOSE FILE. Then you UPLOAD the picture file from your desktop or wherever you have the file.

Yes, it's the same for everyone.
I am sure there is a decent plugin for vBulletin that automatically
resizes oversized pictures to a clickable, smaller version. Just probably
hasn't been an issue that Mike has looked in to.

the forum making picture sizes auto-fit is much easier than every user changing the size every time they post, imo

For sure. I've been having to change the size of the photos I post on this forum for years now, and it is time-consuming. But it's better than posting a HUGE photo that takes up so much space that on has to scroll from left to right in order to see the entire photo. Plus, every post in the thread after that photo has to scroll from left to right to read anything written. It's a real PITA.

I wish I had a quarter for every photo I've posted on AzBilliards Discussion Forum. :grin-square:

I use a Samsung Note 3 to browse.

I can take two pictures, one after another, not changing anything and the pictures come out different sizes. I have no idea what's going on but it has made me not want to post pictures anymore. I know it's a pain in the butt to read threads after someone posts a huge picture. I wish I could figure it out. Sorry guys. It's not intentional.

Mike, also can anything easily be done with those whose list their Skype address below their profile? While viewing from mobile it takes that persons post and shifts it out of line with everyone else's post and cause you to have to scroll back and forth. Not a huge deal but kinda a pita.
