Well, at least according to this article:

Biado shows up visiting billiards foes

Carlo Biado

Carlo Biado showed yet another proof why he is one of the top rising stars
in Philippine billiards as he turned back two visiting world-renowned cue
artists in separate challenge matches Wednesday night at One-Side
Billiards in Ermita, Manila.

The 24-year-old mainstay of the star-studded Bugsy Promotions of
businessman Perry Mariano and a member of the Billiards Managers and
Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP) defeated former World
10-Ball champion Shane Van Boening of the United States, 21-14, for the
P200,000 pot.

He then followed it up with a 21-16 trashing of current Taiwanese
sensation Ko Pin-Yi for a P100,000 purse.

"I'm very proud to beat two of the world's top players today. It inspires
me to strive even harder, and I hope that in the near future I could
achieve their status," said Biado, who was the runner-up in the Bulacan
leg of the First Senate President Manny Villar Cup last July.

More that fattening his pocket, those twin victories also boosted Biado's
stock for the forthcoming National Billiards League, where he could be
among the top picks.

Meanwhile, pool maestro Efren "Bata" Reyes leads a group top Filipino cue
artists in gracing the finals showdown between ABS-CBN and Team
Bulacan Media Organization (Team-bog) for the Villar Cup Media Edition
crown today at the AMF-Puyat Billiards Center in StarMall Edsa,
Mandaluyong City.

Good gravy, how many of these guys are out there in the PI??! Every month it seems theres a new name being made.

In round numbers it looks like the SVB match was for $4000-4500.

At today's rates, 200,000 Philippine peso is exactly $4,282.66, not a chump change in the Philippines by any means...

How about a 3-man ring game between SVB, Dennis and Yang? That would be a doozy!

Make it four. Jump in there.:D
That'd be something else. Or a liability game.

Wish I was back home...

I heard/read that you're up for some R&R back there?

I think there's plenty of room for all 5 of them!
Where do I buy tickets? ;)

It could happen anytime soon because they're in one place as we speak, but a round trip ticket to the Philippines might cost you!

Whose going to Manila? I'll be there on 30th nite until the 7th. But I ain't watching WTBC, until the last 2 days if the players playing on those 2 nites are worth it. :D

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure they played again the next night and Shane won his money back. From what I hear there are a lot of great matches going on in those poolrooms over there right now and the WTBC hasn't even started yet. Should be a good one!

I guess the WTBC is pushing through after all! And I am a TFC (The Filipino Channel) subscriber to boot!
Another great week of pool! For those who doesn't have TFC, it's time to dust off your Sopcast/TVU players!

Its ironic yet sad that the US gets ZERO coverage, one would think the mfg/BCA would want live coverage to the states to increase their own business.

yeah are we outsourcing billiards now?

Was at Players' Den last night to meet up with Efren (cues) and Gandy for our early morning flight out of Manila. At PD, I was told that Warren just beat SVB for 130K with a score of 25-8. But what a fighter this SVB is! He was on the table again playing LV Corteza for 250K and was down 14-8 going to 25 when I left. Hopefully, I can get a copy of the matches for you guys to watch on the "you". Tremendous shotmaking and pattern plays!
