Here are some pics of the new cue i got from Schmelke today.
Its 60" long weighs 19oz hits very solid. The best part is it was 204 shipped to me. I am surprised with the quality. David Schmelke was very helpful throughout the design process. Thanks for looking.

Schmelke

Awesome looking cue. That Tulipwood really pops out on the Ebony. I was going to say that Schmelke cues are underrated but they really aren't. Their blanks have been being used by custom cuemakers for years and they put out a fine custom cue themselves. They are definitely under appreciated. Thanks for the post!

Schmelke

Ordering from them was a very positive experience, not often in any industry do you get to speak with the owner when you place an order, they have the wood and the know how to make very nice stuff. They are also very timely in their delivery. During the production of my cue david e-mailed me and let me know that the ebony had checked so the had to restart, total time from order to delivery was 6 weeks. Their cues won't replace those of a custom cue maker but they do a heck of a job for a person wanting to try out some different options ie. length, weight, taper, ext for a reasonable price before placing an order for a custom. So far i am very happy with my Schmelke cue.

Here's an ebony/birdseye and tulipwood full splice that I made a couple months ago.

I honestly don't believe that anyone else in this country could build that cue for that money. While a lot of 'American' cue companies are selling out by sending their work to China, Schmelke is proving once again that quality means more than profit. Profit was obviously not the driving force that brought this cue to being. I believe that it was pride in ones work and the love of building beautiful cues. This IS a beautiful cue.

I've been back to this thread probably 4 or 5 times now in attempts to try and get my head around #1, what a good looking cue this is, particularly for the money, and #2, how can such a good looking cue be built for such little money. At this point, I'm no less awestruck & no less baffled.

I've dealt with Schmelke for a number of years buying misc. components and their fabulous 4 pt. full-splice blanks. I've built many 'petes' from those blanks both sneaky and fancy. I've just decided that given their (Schmelke's) commitment to quality and fair price, I'm going to lessen the amount of mtrls. that I order elsewhere and give more business to Schmelke. This is a company that I'd like to see stay around for a while.

mdemuth, you've got a cue to be proud of. Gentlemen, the bar has been raised.

Normally don't dig up old threads... but someone was asking to see some pics of full splice blanks from Schmelke.

First, let start off by saying what a nice clean looking cue you have there. The combination of woods look great together. Secondly, Schmelke's design and craftmanship (More so in design) have moved forward with the times and are leaps and bounds away from the style of "my Grandfather's" Schmelke. You're cue looks great and will hit a ton I'm sure.

I too have purchased many full spliced blanks as well as some excellent wood from Schmelke. The one bad experience I had was with pre-made rings which were of poor quality, and some knotty wood, but these were exceptions and they refunded me promptly without a word. The wood and full spliced blanks were as good as you'll find anywhere and I've been pleased for years with their quality and fast service.
There was a guy at the Reno Open a few years ago with a pair of custom made 60" Schmelke cues which looked and played great and he reported paying a ridiculously low price for them. This is a very good company in my book

There's nothing prettier than tulipwood and ebony.

Anyone know if Schmelke still takes custom orders?

I gotta ask, at that price, how even are the points?
