WTB Shaftmaster lathe

Dont do it

Do yourself a favor and forget the shaft master. There about $800 new.
For a few bucks more you can get a real cue lathe from Chris hightower
Or Todd at Midamerican cue lathe. Both are top notch lathes and guys.
You will be able to do a lot more with a lathe from both of these guys.
Then you can do with a shaft master.

They are just so expensive. I've seen used shaftmasters for under $400. It's only for personal use so i was looking for a cheaper route

Not to be disparaging but by almost all accounts (anyone that's actually tried to use one), the shaftmaster is a complete POS. you would probably be better off free handing a tip job. It's just not sturdy enough to even pretend to be accurate. Perhaps you could detail your plans as there are plenty of better alternatives if you're going to do repairs.

Yeah the repairs will only be for my cues. I'm glad you guys warned me about the sm. I had no idea they were crap. I really appreciate the insight. May just have to spend the money and get a good one.

ok

The reason you saw one for $400 used is because the person realized it was junk and dumpped it. I have been here for a few years not and have only seen one for $400. Honestly I would not give you $10 for a new one,
Well maybe I would give someone $10 for one because I could use the light that comes with it. If all you want one for is for doing a tip from time to time for yourself. Get right pin for your shaft and put it on a drill. or pay a cue repair man $15-$20 bucks to do it right. After all how often do you need a tip put on your cue.
Good luck what ever you do, If you do get a repair lathe I think you will have a lot of fun with it, You can do a lot with it..
