the way to get pool on TV that actually encourages novices to take up the game

why not call bravo and get Top Shot instead of top chef..

get some high level league players from around the country..

hire some of the more exciting pool personality's to be judges.

Earl would make a great "Simon"

get some top instructors and players as rotating personalitys on the show

get Joe Rogan to host it

the "quick fire" or early round where you can win the right not to be eliminated.. should be a drill explained by the "guest host" in simple language. the contestant who performs it the best on a dry first run(they don't get to see it beforehand they learn it along with the audience) wins the challenge and cannot be eliminated.

use cuetable's can you run this as a premise for the elimination round

set up a famous runout from a great match or create a very difficult run..

and the worst attempt at running the rack is eliminated..

the winner gets cash, a top flight table, a top flight custom cue, and a spot in the field in the us open..

the viewers learn about pool we get more exposure.. I like it

edit:you narrow it down to two players one will be eliminated and you play one rack of a game that changes every week and they have to play under pressure the winner stays.. the loser hears the catch phrase " you are a banger burn your cues and take up darts"

There was at one time 2 different pool shows on TV. One was on the game show network and ultimately was played in game format and winner take all. There was also a pool show with celebrities similar to Celebrity Poker Showdown. Both shows bombed. Pool really doesn't translate well on tv sadly. I watch all I can, but I really think you need to be a pool fan in order to watch it, whereas Top Chef you can watch even if not an expert cook.

I disagree...there are as many bad cooks in the world as there are bad pool players...

There was a golf reality show along these lines where the winner got entry into PGA tour events. Looked like reat show but don't think it got much mainstream air coverage.

I don't think you understood what I meant. Bad cooks are still watching Top Chef whereas bad Pool Players could care less about pool. Plus everyone has to cook for the most part, everyone does not have to shoot.
