Amazing shots by Stalev (pyramid)

Vahmurka:

Оно истинно что Евгений на Derby? Это превосходные новости! Он один из моих любимейших игроков!

(For those curious, I'm asking Vahmurka in Russian if it's true that Evgeny is at the Derby, that it's great news, because he's one of my favorite players to watch.)

Man, I'm kicking myself that I haven't been able to make it to the DCC. Next year, I hope!

The table is usually a 12'x6' table (same as a full-size snooker table). The pockets are where things get interesting. They are not rounded like on a snooker table, but take pool's "chiseled cut" architecture to the next level -- an exaggerated chiseled architecture:

That's why Pyramid players hit the ball so hard -- to "bend" the horn of the pocket out of the way (a way of "making the pockets bigger"), and you can see evidence of this on the pocket horns themselves -- the cloth is "burned off" on the tips of the horns.

More info about Pyramid can be found here:

Hope this is helpful!

correct, and that is the reason cushions of the pyramid table don't have facings (they would have done pushing the rubber impossible for the ball)

He was there. I actually did a double take when he walked by. When he was getting ready to break I told my buddy to watch.

Женя Сталев - настоящий монстр на бильярдном столе, неважно пул это или пирамида. Играет круто!!

He made an appearance at the Derby 4-5 years ago also. We went to dinner one night at a BBQ restaurant in Louisville. Might have been the last year before moving it to Indiana.

He's fun to watch for sure.

So you're holding a mirror up to madmiller? :p

I didn't even notice that :grin-square:

All I wrote in Russian was that Stalev is a bad-ass player and a real monster on a table, regardless if it's pool or pyramid.

Yes, I understood what you wrote (Я немного говорю по русский). But I was scratching my head at first at what Walter wrote. It didn't look like any Russian I'd ever seen. :D Then, when I got to the end of the sentence, suddenly, as I scanned from right to left, it "looked familiar" in the opposite direction. :D

Very funny, Walter! ;)
