Hey anyone out there have a good Swanee story they'd like to share?

I'm in, unless my entry got diverted to the North Pole with all the letters to Santa.

Will you be there, Holly?

Hi DogsPlayingPool,

I hope to go. Only 4 hrs from Vegas so possible.

There is no formal dinner break at Swanee. However, there is generally enough time between matches for the players to be able to have time to eat. :) Sporty little event, last year had 181 players. We have a field size limit of 192.

I didn't suppose there would be a scheduled break since by that time all the matches are at separate stages of progress. I wanted to check just in case because if there was a dinner break it would have been nice to try and arrange a dinner plan among all the AZBers that will be there.

And BTW, I would have to say that describing the Swanee as a "sporty little event" is the understatement of the year so far. :D This tournament looks to be a monster!

Parica and Efren 2003

Hey anyone out there have a good Swanee story they'd like to share?

The precursor to the Swanee was the Pechauer Tour at Hollywood Billiards in 2003.

It was told back then:

"By the way, I had thought the score between Jose and Efren was 11 to 3, at least that is the way Jose tells it. If this is the same tournament in California, Efren knocked Jose in the loser's bracket, and Jose climbed back up to the top only to face Efren again, "spanking" him with a score of 11 to 3. Although Jose and Efren are good friends, they both come from the same generation of pool players and still enjoy a little rivalry from time to time."

What wasn't told is that after Efren beat Parica to send him to the loser's side, Efren's Pinoy friends bought him several shots of whiskey while Parica took a nap on the cushey sofas there. Parica was part of Team Fury then and had a Fury jump cue that he used against Efren in the finals. I think that the shots got Efren.

I'm staying up there for the tournament so I'll be at Hollywood Billiards Friday night to get in some practice.

Anyone who might be there Friday night shoot me a PM and maybe we can get some "friendly" table time in.
