Saw this table in the background of the preview trailer for Quentin Tarantino's new movie "Django Unchained," anyone know what kind of table or what kind of game they're playing?

Looks neat, seems the object would be to land a ball in the center hole. With the fact that there are a few balls on the table, I'd guess by a carom or a combination.

The picture is not so clear on my phone... From what I see there is a diamond marking the center of the long and short rails and.. Two? marking the corners. It is also appears bowl-shaped. I have never seen a carom table that looks bowl-shaped (possibly the image is a bit distorted when viewing on my phone). I did not realize at first but there's a hole in the middle? I was certain it must be some variation of four ball, but I have no idea now...

Wonder where they got such a table... I want one.

There were several popular games similar to the one pictured above ^ in the late 1800's. (some of which, like 'bagatelle', eventually led to the development of modern pinball machines)

Below is a table very much like the game seen in the photo above, except that this one doesnt have the center hole, and, you have the option of playing the ball(s) with either your cue or your hand. ( the hole was a hazard)

for a better view, here's the patent for it

Nice find! I'm going to find a used sink and cover it in Simonis, this looks like a fun game and you can play with almost any size table. 3C Billiards for dummies. The curves sides would make it fun, like a mini golf course.

Thanks for the pointer. Of course the table doesn't allow any power shots since the balls would hit the ceiling. An extension that would solve that is to turn the J-shaped sides into C-shaped so that a ball that went into the "cushion" at high speed would do a boomerang and come back at you slightly off the table. Think of the jump-bank shots you could do!
