Tournament repair and display setup

Big tournaments are fun to do
IMO you need a few things to be successful at a tourney
Good stock,
Good personality
Good technique
Speed
I only do 2-3 tournaments a year, and after each one I don't want to look at a cue for awhile

I wish I had more organization
As long as the wait isn't too long I'll do all repairs I normally do.
I charge the same rates as well,

This is my setup at a pool hall in indianapolis. The bar owner let's me use a counter top in the middle of the bar. It was usually set up to server booze but it was closed because the main bar is enough. I carry everything with me. I clamp my lathe to the counter top and have that 3 layer tool box. Tips ferulles butt caps cleaning wraps all can be done with my setup.

Speed, whatcha mean Speed. At this particular tournament, the beer booth is approx 10 paces to the right of Darcy. Maybe Darcy does speed. When you consider the hours he puts in, shuts the lathe down long enuff to play in the tourney, comes back and starts work again until closing. The other people in the booth keep taking in work while he is out gallivanting and playing.

The good technique comes in handy other wise a person could get over whelmed pretty quick.

Darcy answers questions and keeps the patter going thru out the entire process, and he still has all his fingers.

People hang out, run for beer and give him their cues to do just so they can BS with him while they are waiting.
