I would like to say thank you to all those who supported the new cue buyer during Trent’s implosion. I got emails from strangers to notify me that Trent was having another meltdown on AZ.

Others commented “Shame on you, that you didn’t do more research on Trent he was still looking for tapes on how to make cues a few years ago, he’s not a cuemaker”…. Others said I shouldn’t have sent material that nice to “someone like” Trent. I guess they were right, I shouldn’t have. I also had several offers via email and PM to fix the cue by some very well known cuemakers. Thanks again guys, I really appreciate the offers. I can’t send it to be fixed though because TRENT refuses to send it to me. I think he sold it…..

I just felt obligated to update everyone that I have NOT received my cue, or had my wood returned to me, and Trent has also kept all of money. I have acknowledged this “alleged rattle” as well and told Trent to send the cue as is and I would still pay him the full amount, as if the cue was perfect. That’s why all roads lead to him selling it to someone else.

There are some other facts that really feel should be shared with the community here. I really believe Trent has sold this koa cue of mine. Here’s why I believe that to be true.
1). Trent never offered to “fix” the rattle, or send it off to some other maker to be fixed. He was VERY VERY quick to offer substitute burl he has in his shop. In fact, Trent never even acknowledged that the cue could be fixed at all………..
2). Trent acknowledged receiving my stabilized koa on December 20, 2011. He stated that it would take between 12-15 weeks to complete the cue. Today is August 1st. This relevant because he has said he doesn’t have time to fix my cue.
3). He clearly received offers on the cue on his facebook page.
So to whomever has my koa cue, please be advised that you are indeed in possession of stolen property.

Ironically, Trent Cowgill has enough time to go over to Jimbo’s Army and post pictures of a different cue he working on right now for a different customer. So beware cue buyers…. Stay away from Marley Cues – Trent Cowgill is a THIEF !!!!! He will string you along for 8-9 months and then STEAL your materials and your money….. CAVEAT EMPTOR.

I'm sorry you had to go through this ordeal. Trent really showed what kid of "cuemaker" he really is with that thread. And the grand irony was... he truly thought he was in the right.

Hope it works out well for you in the end. I've been a member at JA.com since its inception. I'm sure people will rattle his cage over there too. I'd almost bet on it.

Thanks MIA I was down around your area last year for the BLADE show at the COBB Galleria.... thanks for your support. -Larry

I truly hope you get your cue as soon as possible. Some people just don't understand what honor and integrity mean.

Good luck to you,
Chris

I remember I said on the other thread that somebody may of offered more money or he wanted to keep it himself which I was hoping would be false. It just seems so menial and desperate for him to do this over a piece of wood.Just petty and senseless on his behalf.Goodluck

He should be ashamed of himself. When I first read the thread he posted I came to the same conclusion that he had sold it to someone else. His explanation of why he didn't want to send the cue to you made no sense. Why would he want to send you different wood otherwise? I was thinking he was threatening to cut it up first because he didn't want to send it to you only for you to find out there was no rattle and he had plans to sell it. Last he said though he was gonna ship it to you which was obviously a lie. Sorry this happened to you and hopefully things work out. If I were you I would definitely pursue this further. Good Luck man.

AZ Billiards needs a forum called "THE HALL OF SHAME"..........

I have the first inductee.... Trent Cowgill ---> Thief

Is it possible he destroyed the wood while attempting to make the cue or repair it?

Bottom line is, the OP should get SOMETHING back, either some money, some wood, or a cue. To recieve nothing is absolutely crooked!!!

I can say one thing I know for certain. I have chatted with Larry back and forth considerably and he has offered wood and help in different areas.
He is a knife maker and I repair cues. We both have a love for all things that are fine (Thats Old Gregg in me coming out) that contain wood.
Its not the first time he has offered help or wood to people that are in need.

He is a stand up guy and wouldn't be posting this if it weren't legit.

This kind of crap needs to stop on AZ. I believe the first thread created by Trent was a preemptive strike to try and ward off his knowing that this thread by Larry was inevitable.

Is the other thread still on here??

I seen where he said he was going to send it to you. Has there been time since the other thread?

Once you get wood from another guy,,there's no going back. LMAO

He needs to return something. All money and wood,,in pieces if that's the way it is. Or return it as is,,half done,,or done wt rattle.

Call Judge JUDY!!! Really!!!

I would like to address this comment...... while I understand your reasoning, I would never want any wood from Trent. If I wanted Trent to use wood to make me a cue I would not have sent the very very expensive koa to him.

The second point to this is that as a knifemaker I have seen people bring materials to me and to friend's of mine who forge their blades and ask that their materials be used in creating the blade... for example.

A guy had a piece of the towers from NY and he lost a close relative that day. He wanted that piece of steel forged down and combined with some other steel and made into a blade...... you gonna keep that guy's material??

Another friend forged his wife's ashes into a billet of damascus, and made a blade and some jewelry. She died from cancer. You gonna keep this guy's materials and rip him off ??

Another guy took the chain from his old harley and forged it down into a blade........you're gonna steal that from him ??

I have some Chinese Elm Burl from a tree that was in my friend's front yard since before he was born. He grew up with that tree in his family. Its stunning burl, and its sitting in my shop drying as we speak. Am I going to rip him off with some BS story and offer to give him some curly maple instead ??

The koa that was sent to Trent came from a friend of mine who lives in Hawaii, he's a woodworker, and he hand picked the pieces and sold them to me. Trent knows that the koa has meaning to me.

All of my materials (mostly wood and damascus) are hand picked or harvested by me, and have a story. Thats the whole point in sending the materials to a cuemaker and asking that he make the cue out of those materials.... To me it makes the cue (knife / goose call / pen / gun grips....etc) special and one of kind.....

So I really have no interest in some random burl or wood that Trent may have laying around his shop......

Here's a pic of some of my buddy Scott's Chinese Elm Burl.....

It really pisses me off when stupid people do stupid things:angry:
And Trent is at the top of my list.

All I can say is this...

I remember thinking...yeah good on him to finally agree to send the cue to the guy as is...

Now I don't care if he sold it to someone else, or put it in the fire, he needs to buy it back or start gluing the ashes together, that cue needs to be sent, because he stated he would.

I may not always be 100% honest (who is? although I am usually truthful), but when I give my word, I keep it....

I expect the same from others I do business with as well.

Thats a really good point.....all we have is our word. I have sent and received materials and goods from Russia, Thailand, Poland, Sweden, and lots of other places where they could've stolen my stuff no problem overseas. Nope, I get ripped off from a guy who lives in Etna, Ohio.

I meant YOUR original wood in my post, which I already knew was not possible since he had already made the cue. But......you DID ask for the wood back, didn't you???

Maniac (geez, I'm totally in your camp on this one)

As a cuemaker I hate seeing these things happen that cast a wide net over all new cue makers just because of a few bad apples. I predicted this way back when trent and his buddy caused a big ordeal in the cue sections ......over and over again with many different people..... Meridian I warned him about the legal ramifications if he proceeded on his current path.....I know I would be the first to file in small claims court.
