Last night, Tyler Strawn and his girlfriend from Oklahoma (OKC, I believe) were killed in a car accident.

His family will be in my Prayers.

What a loss to the pool world - and so young. I will definitely keep his family in my thoughts and prayers.

Prayers given. I have to say, it's nice to see compassion from the harsh pool world.

Prayer

A prayer has been said. My condolences to their families. :(

Too sad. Man does it ever come and go fast. Make sure you hug the ones you love because you never ever know when it might be the last time you see them. :(

God Speed Tyler.

This is awful news. I feel so bad for their families. Horrible!

I am reminded of the brilliant young Chan Witt from Kentucky who died at age 18 maybe ten years ago. Also in a car accident. A future champion taken from us too soon, just like Tyler. Sad

Is this the accident you are talking about? http://kotv.com/news/topstory/?id=137459

When I read that last night, it didn't have the names of the kids, because they hadn't contacted family members, yet. I remember getting a horrible, sick feeling when I read about it, though. Too many young lives lost these days, without ever having the opportunity to really taste life and it's true joys.

My prayers go out to the family.

Yup, that's the news coverage. http://kotv.com/news/topstory/?id=137459

Tyler was one helluva player. That kid beat my brains out on numerous occasions ever since he was about 14. Even gave me the 6 ball on the BAR table and kilt me for the cash. Elyse was always very mature and quiet, supported him, loved him, smiled at most people and sat and watched every match, no matter how long they took.

This sucks, plain and simple. My heart goes out to his family and especially his brother, David, who is also a known and respected player. Those two ran the road together (mostly in Oklahoma) for years. They would both put ALL their cash, jewelry, cues or whatever they could bet ON THE LINE for each other, no matter which of the two was at the table for them, and depended on each other to get the cash.

I feel for you, David. I don't have any brothers, but I know this has to hit about as hard as anything can hit you. Ouch, man.

Everyone in every pool room in Tulsa and Oklahoma City will miss these two.

Tyler and Elyse will both be missed

I was with Tyler the night him and Elyse started dating as well as many a nights for the 2 years I lived in Tulsa. Tyler was always a stand up kid and respectful. I met him 3 years before moving to Tulsa at one of the Midwest 9-ball events at the Tulsa Billiard Palace. We struck up a talking friendship that weekend and when i moved there Tyler came up to me my first night like we were long lost friends.

Not only did Tyler always have his brothers back and his brother his but he would be behind anyone of the guys that he was closest too. I was on the road with them and had a road player start the woof at me. Tyler came out of some corner of the room and just got between the player and myself and told him that if he wanted my money then he needed to step up and play him. He would stand up for me more than once.....

Elyse was as sweet a girl as you will find. She loved tyler completely and she stood behind him through the good and bad times. They both were wonderful kids and will be missed completely.

My heart weighs very heavy in the mist of their deaths that were so very unnecessary. My love, support & prayers go out to both of these families. May Tyler & Elyse both Rest In Peace.

Yes, it is, although I didn't know the particulars of the accident, I just had an email from Keith and Sandy Chamberlain of TulsaPool.com saying they were killed in a car accident. She mentioned to watch for it in the news.

A similiar type incident happened to a friend of mine years ago when Caleb Moore from Tulsa (Gabe's old running buddy, he runs some with Walden nowdays) was struck by a car in the same way, but miracalously survived without very much lingering afflictions.

How sad Tyler was a good kid I met him while watching a local junior player (Louie Karamas) who has also passed on play Tyler at the junior nationals. At that time all we wanted to do was play pool. My prayers are with both family's during this time.

I can't even imagine the pain of losing your son or daughter. May God be with their families and loved ones through these hard times.
