Someone just informed me he was killed when struck by an automobile. Does anyone know if this is true? I have played Tyler at the derby and he seemed like a good guy. Hope this info is incorrect.

Yeah...there was a thread on it with a link to the article. Him and his girlfriend ran out of gas and pulled off to the inside shoulder. There were trying to cross the freeway and was struck by an automobile. Very sad news.

God Speed Tyler

This kid had a ton of heart and was gonna be a pure champion. This is a terrible loss and we should all take a moment and thank God for the life he has given us. I hope Tyler is in pool heaven somewhere!!
Goodbye Kid:(

A word to the wise. On a dark street at night, drivers in cars CANNOT see pedestrians. They appear only as a dark shadow on the road. Especially if you are wearing dark clothing. Only something bright and reflective is visible, like the things you often see bicyclists wearing.

Another thing to be aware of. As a pedestrian it is extremely difficult to gauge the speed of approaching cars at night. They are moving faster than they appear.

When crossing a four lane roadway, DO NOT cross when one car in the nearest lane stops and motions you to cross, even if you can see no oncoming traffic from the other direction. The danger here is a car in the second lane nearest you. You won't see it coming until it's too late.

It's never good hearing about anyone dying, but it's especially tragic when it's someone so young with so much life ahead of them. I'm sorry to hear the terrible news.

This is so ironic. I was talking about Tyler the other night. A few friends were talking about matches we've seen and enjoyed and I had said that I had thoroughly enjoyed watching Tyler and his brother (David I think) play some cincinnati against Chris Bartrum and Shannon Murphy at DCC last year (2006). Tyler was a fireball of energy and had a great game and fun to watch. My thoughts and condolences to the families of both kids.

Very sad news.

I know that highway very well, and that particular area, as Gabe had lived near there for years, since he was 18, and alot of our family still does. It's an extremely busy highway with many lanes, and I always feared having problems while on it. (as I still do in most large, busy towns)

We had a trailer come loose off of our truck one time, in that area. Our hitch came off, the trailer stayed attached to the chain - but was bouncing all over the place - and we just hurriedly unhooked and left the trailer on the side of the road, and drove to the next exit, to get the heck out of that fast moving traffic, so we could call a tow truck to go get it.
Unfortunately, they had another car problem.

I found this article about it.

Our prayers go out to their family, friends, and loved ones.
