New guy.. Looking for some help please!!

Hi everyone,

This is my 1st post. My name is Marc. been shooting pool my entire life and never had the chance to get serious about it..until I found this forum.

This just introduced me to a whole new world of knowledge!

Can't wait to talk to you!!

I could also use a little help please.: I am trying to find a gift for my brother: He is looking for ANY spoken word Vintage Instructional VINYL record albums that teach you how to play pool..

Most likely from the 70's or 80's. Maybe some of you are collectors of ANYTHING / EVERYTHING pool, pocket billiards, etc

Maybe 1 of you has one hanging on your wall..

I will buy whatever you have.

If ANY of you could provide me some information, I sure would appreciate it.

Looking forward to talking to you and getting my butt kicked so that I can improve my game!!!

Thanks in advance,
-Marc

Search for Bob Jewett he is a good one to talk to, if anyone knows he might. He is on the forum using his real name.

Ok, found out some info. The one I am looking for is called:

"Pocket Billiards: Fundamentals Plus Highlights of 14-1 Continuous, The Championship Game," by Jimmy Wise on the label ORANGE ACTION - 1201 (MONO)

If anyone has a copy, or knows someone with a copy, PM me please!!

Thanks!

Searching...

Hey Marc,
I give you a clue of the best gift you can offer to you bro.
If you find the specified vinyl, find a music production studio and ask them to duplicate the vinyl. After that ask Jim Baxter if he can make a very nice tigerwood/cocobolo/ebony box on the exact fit of the vinyl. Buy an old Qball (there are here for sale) cut it in a half, engrave his name and the birth date on the ball, engrave the date you'll give him the present on the back of the box and your name, nickname....

You'll have the best present ever. IMO. It will look like this (it was a quick edit so forgive the quality):

Anyway welcome to the jungle:P

Chris

I have a collection of about 3500 LP's and have never seen or heard of a billiards LP either. It looks like I need to start hunting around.

I sent a request in to our local record store, here is the link, they are just around the corner from where I play, they have a huge warehouse of records, I will let you know if they have it.

WOW!!! My brother is gonna S4!t when he finds out about that place.

We live like 4 hours away!! Thanks dude!!

I never heard back from them, try giving them a call, they are open on the weekends, the place is huge and they have another warehouse a few blocks away that is masive.

I have something super rare that I'm sure most have never seen or heard of that you or some billiards memorabilia collector may be interested in, I have the original "The Hustler" movie on Vinyl CED (capacitance electronic disc system) that were release by Century 20 Fox in the early 60's... from what I understand CED was a video system RCA was trying to develop back then and due to a falling out within the company the project was scrapped for 17 years, and the movie The Hustler was one of the few movies that were actually released in the CED format, once the smoke cleared within RCA they tried to resurrect the project but by that time beta tapes and VHS was being developed so they scrapped the project altogether ... but anyways this is a 2 piece disc set that I found in a record store 20+ years ago being a pool player I thought they were cool, had them framed and have had them hanging in my pool room for many years only recently to find out how rare they really are! Sorry to ramble on! Haha just made me think about them again after I seen this thread about vinyl lp's...hope you find what your looking for!
