Hi all,
I have up for sale two Mike Wheeler cues made in 1999. I had planned to keep these, but have other interests now. For those of you who are not familiar with Mike Wheeler, he apprenticed and worked with both Richard Black and Bill Schick. It is my understanding that he worked with Bill Schick for many years producing Schick cues, while occasionally building a cue with his name. Obviously, the influence is apparent when you look at these two that I have for sale. I am asking $1,300 for either cue OBO.. Both are 3/8-10 joint. Both cues are straight, althought the photo's make them look warped.
Cue #1) 19.25 ounce. Ebony points w/ veneers into maple forearm. Inlays consist of mother of pearl notched diamonds and dots. The point work and inlays work is 2nd to none. Both shafts are approx. 12.7 mm. There is a slight difference in height from wood to phenalic where the finish has shrunk on the butt sleeve. There are also a few player dings, but nothing through the finish. The cue is in good shape, but a refinish would make it perfect. Signed "Wheeler 99"
Cue #2) Chicago style, with ebony points into maple. Cue weighs 20 ounces. Two shafts, one with billiard taper, the other pro taper, approx. 13mm. The finish is in very good shape with some shrinkage in the finish on the butt sleeve (similar to previous cue). The point work and inlay work is superb. In fact, the french cut diamonds are razer sharp. I have no idea how he could cut ivory that perfect without breaking. This cue is really sharp in person. Signed "Wheeler 99"
Not really looking to trade as I am moving out my collection. The other cue in the photos is the Runde I have for sale in another thread.
I only check pm's once a day, so be patient. Thanks doug
