Question Where Are All The Americans? - 12-07-2007, 07:09 PM

FYI.....The Canadian 9 Ball Tour is open to all players this year, not just Canadians as in previous years. With $10,000 added to each event...eight in total, it's hard to find a more appealing tour out there. The first three events had 94, 100 and 81 entries and the next three are limited to 64 players with a $5,000 first prize.

The events fill up well in advance and the draw is posted online prior to the event. This allows for people to place bets through the Stan James website, who post odds on each player to finish in the top four. There are limited spots available for the next event on Feb.1-3, 2008 at Luc Salvas' room in Valleyfield, Quebec, which is just west of Montreal. Entry fee is $125 Canadian.

This is the third year of the tour which is sponsored by Cineplex Entertainment and Chapters Indigo Books and is run by Jim Wych, who is known worldwide as a former professional snooker player and a commentator and analyst for most of the major billiard events around the world.

The format is race to nine, double elimination, winner racks and breaks and the nine does not count on the break.

For more information on the tour, check out their website at www.Canadian9balltour.com

I welcome any feedback from players that have participated in any of the events or any players interested in voicing their opinions on the status of the tour.

Great event and ran smoothly here in Edmonton and all in a classy way. Spot on competition in sportsman setting. More than worth the time to enter into some great competition with great payouts. Wish I had played better but finished m sets terribly compared to their starts. Sean

In Ottawa the tournament was extremely well run and professional. Jim is a class act to say the least. It is a great tour!

All we need in the Canadian tour are some bigger pro names. If we can get Johnny Archer, Shane Van Boening etc down in Canada, I'm sure a lot more people would come down (like me )

Alex, Chamat, and Ralf only went to the first canadian pro stop. If all those people you listed played on the tour regularly, I'm sure the Canadian tour would be a lot more popular. I believe only Ronnie, John M. and Jason mentioned on that list play on the tour regularly. Most well known pros like Shane or Dennis Hatch would help boost the tour's awareness. Although I've heard Shane say that the coin purse for these canadian stops isn't big enough (I think he said it in a interview with Chad*actionreport*).

Playing Cue: Schon w/ 314-2
Breaker: Varney jump/break cue
Case: Instroke 2x4
