I've often wondered that myself. The only thing I can come up with is they're just not that 'net' minded yet. I'm trying to change that, but it's slow... painfully slow.

I'm also thinking they need their flyers to be in pdf format, so they can post it on their web site, and then link it here, so you get the whole 'Flyer' feel to it, but we have not come that far with the senior ownership yet.

Baby steps..... baby steps.

3 Birthdays!

A Tourney at Rusty's on my Birthday!?!?!
Dang right I'm there! Forget another trip back to Sturgis!

By my count that makes three birthdays that day! I will not be playing, but will show up to check things out and share a birthday toast with Tracie!

WOW!!

That was a lot of players and a long day! We had a great time. Just got home around 2am.

Who won? Don't forget to tell us the finals, you guys.

Happy Birthday, Tracie! Happy Anniversary, Rusty's!

Just one great event, down there. Great service, great food, great place! If any of you planned to go and missed it, you missed a great time. We are glad we went. We got to see a lot of the folks we saw up there, this spring. And, it was nice to be remembered by so many, too.

Oh yeah... I dunked Tracie in the dunk tank!! I came within inches on the first two throws and the third one put her in!

We'd like to thank all those who came out. It looked like everyone had a great time.
Gene was able to put out a couple of cues, and they drew a crowd too look at his workmanship. Really awesome looking cues.

There were 45 entries into the tournament, and aside from local favorites, there were a few that came down from OK. aside from Gene and Rene.

With 45 players, we paid out 1/4 of the field, so we had as our 9-12 finishers, Mike Grosso, Chris Stevens, Vince Miller, and Scotty Shaffer.
7-8 we had Cory Anderson and Jose Zaragoza.
5-6 went to Tony Ewart and Coy Lee Nicholson
4th place was Robert Clark
3rd pace was TJ Davis
2nd went to Shane McMinn (From OK.)
1st went to (Little) Dean Williams.

Aside from the tournament, everyone seemed to get their fill on the burgers and dogs Jeffro grilled up. All in all a really nice spread. The tournament ended right around 11:30, so it was a long day, but a very good day.

Hope to see you all again at the next one.

Great Tour.

There are a few points that I would like to make and I hope that no one takes it the wrong way.
First of all. The whole staff at Rusty's is great. Tracie is so gracious and welcomes everyone. Goes out of her way to please people. Mike runs a great tournament and takes time to listen to players when they have questions. What can I say about all the food but it is great and there is always enough for everyone.
Here is the thing that troubles me. It seems like the same players and (we all know who they are) dominate the tournament every time. Don't get me wrong. I do like playing them once in a while to see how I can hold out against them but pool is a hobby of mine and I do not support myself with it.
This tournament is run every three months (4 times a year) how about not letting these so called "Big Tournament Players" not playing in 1 of the 4 tournaments during the year to let the "Little Guy" place in the big spots?
Do these so called 'Tournament Players" come to Rusty's every night or just when theres a tournament for money? I think there are some steady customers that would like a shot at winning a nice tournament like Rusty's puts on.
Just one man's opinion.
Sincerely:
Mike Grosso

Hey Mike,

I think you hit the nail on the head. We've only been there twice for the bigger tournaments, but we have noticed that Mike not only runs a great tournament, but he DOES take the time to listen to the players' suggestions and questions, as you mentioned.

As a little support, I think a big tournament for lower-ranking players is a great idea and I'm sure Mike is paying attention to your thoughts on the matter. I especially thought it was great that you didn't try to bump all the great players and their achievements by suggesting that all the tournaments have a limit. One a year is a great idea.

Just thought you might like a little support for your comment and I wanted to put my thoughts out there, too.

I almost forgot... If anyone is curious how the White Diamond event went, the thread is here: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=145473 I know a lot of folks were wondering about some of the other events that were going on over this busy weekend, so I thought I'd post a link.

Hey Tracie or Ponytail! Tell Dean that Gene and Renee' said congrats! There was some tough competition going on up there, yesterday.

We hated that we needed to leave so early, but 2 of us had to work, today. Sounds like we probably missed some great games!

Will pass on the congrats.

Thanks again for making the trip. Good seeing ya'll. I was glad you got to put some of your cues out for people to look at.

Thank you.

Mike,

I have a tournament like you're suggesting every month. So does Zach and Kennan. You need to get out and support those event so they will stick around.

I love the Rusty's tournaments but have missed the last 2 due to scheduling issues. Mike and Tracy do know how to have a blast!

Wow - based on the results, that's a tough tournament! It's awesome to see Coy Lee Nicholson's name - I haven't seen him in over 5 years!

Hey!!

I saw T.J's name in the Open. He just got knocked out by Darren Appleton. He lasted a while, though.

I've got guys in Tulsa who are wondering when the next Fort Worth tournament will be. They are looking forward to it. (I told you I'd spread the word up here!)

If you have info, fill us in!
