Hello AZ Billiards members. I have just confirmed my spot with Charlie Williams for the Predator World Straight Pool Championships.

Please before you start laughing and complaining and flaming understand a few things.

#1. It is my understanding that a player could not make it so I am simply filling that person's shoes. I am in a position financially to take this players place.

#2. I make no claim that I deserve to be at this event with some of pool's biggest names. I am doing this to support this event as I think it is pivotal that its existence remains in tact as a reminder to the pool world that 14.1 will never die.

#3. For those of you who would argue that I am taking this spot from a more deserving player (ability wise) i agree with you completely however at this late hour I am writing this at 1:37 in the morning the night before the event and from what i can tell no one else has stepped up to the plate.

In any event I am going to go to this incredible event with my head held high. Yes I will probably lose every match I play in the round robin stage but I am going to make damn sure every time i am at the table i am going to try my best to make the most of it. I figure if I play slow enough I can put Mika to sleep at least lol and that could be a big win right there.

Please everyone understand my intentions of going to this event are good ones. I wont lie and say that Im psyched to be going and to be playing with some of the world's best. If i said that i would be lying. But I look forward to it and hope I dont embaress myself by ripping the cloth on a break shot gone horribly awry.

To all of my fellow Azer's good night.

(P.S. - Anyone have a vest?) lol lol

Charles,

I'll put this to you as diplomatically as possible...

Go there and enjoy yourself. play your best, and take it all in. It is a chance of a lifetime - something you will always have to look back upon. If anyone has something negative to say about it, tell them to go **** themselves. Life is too short for all of that nonsense.

Best of luck this week!

Have a blast, take tons of pictures for us!

Glad your getting such an awesome opportunity.

Charlie: I am in the same boat with you. I am not worthy but I told them if they need me, I would be there. They told me to bring a vest in case, and voila, here I am.

See you today. Comet opens at 11. Players meeting at 3.

Very cool!! My most sincere congratulations to both of you. I'm very happy for you. That would be a thrill!! :groucho:

Charles,

I for one should be the first one to wish you the best of success, i hope you take it all in and learn every nuance of the game from playing with the worlds best.

And hopefully you show me a few things when you get back, i think maybe i deserve it !

I Cannot believe i am reading this, and Damn i am so jealous !

You have come a long way Young Grasshopper, and from this day forward you are opening up new doors and learning things that i probably never have taught you. Just pay attention, and no texting while your opponent is shooting. Unless you are trying to pull a move !!!!!

Good Luck !:eek::smile::p
Steve

lol Thanks Steve. It means a lot. i cant believe it either it seems like a dream. I mean here we were joking around about it for months before the qualifier and now Im doing it, its unreal.

Im going to be a total tourist snap mad pics and Lizzie is taking some video of my matches. Hopefully it comes out good and I will have some proof that I took down Mika.

I figure if i play slow enough i can put him to sleep like Johnny did at the Mezz 14.1.

Yeah man. Im hoping that I at least make a good showing. I just wish the ability was up to snuff with the heart and the desire.

Charlie,

Dont knock yourself down before you even get out on the road to go there.

And believe me if it was based on Heart & Desire, you would be the Reining Champ !!!

Knock'em Dead Young Grasshopper !

Charlie,

I just gotta keep it real....

Some of the flaming you rec'd for you post last year was, IMO, self inflicted. I remember you saying stuff like "CW, it would be an honor to get an invitation because of the prestige it would give me to be able to tell my family that I was invited to the World 14.1 event..." Well, that can be interpreted as you begging your way in just to play up an imaginary role to your family that you are some kind of major league player.

On the flip side, I can't see anyone flaming you for this recent post. It's unpretentious and the way I read it, it's just a recreational pool player playing in a major event, kinda like a fantasy camp. Why would anyone knock you for that? Hell, I hope you have the time of your life and maybe win a match or two. Good luck and have fun.

Eric
