Oglam the POTUS stood there like he was giving his Oscar speech and shout outs BEFORE he said what he needed to say. He should have said "As Commander and Chief...... and we will take a hard look at why this happened, support the familys of the casualitys, etc etc" And then gave a small credit to those who put toghether the press conference, they do press conferences all the time its their job so they really dont need any credit at that moment-there was some serious $hit going down.

This guy is so caught up inthe glamour of his title and Nobel peace prize etc he aint thinking right I will say it again HE AINT THINKING RIGHT(that can happen to anyone, it has me). He is acting like he is on the hill(in pool terms) and letting himself get distracted with the Glamours life he now has. I seen alot of guys in pool lose from that spot, or not bearing down against a weaker player-when you do that you might get beat. Something real bad is going to have to happen to slap this guy in the face so he can wake up from the dream land he is in now. I dont follow politics much, but I follow people and their moves. He aint moving as shrewed as he did before he got elected. I hope what ever has to happen to wake him up dosent cost us any lifes or a dollar, but sadly thats just me dreaming.

I don't disagree ... but this guy has taken it to an entirely new level, and we've never had a POTUS before who a cult following like Stalin/Hitler/Mao had.

Since this seems to be overlooked by those commenting on his remarks as he takes the stage I think its important to add the fact that this was not a "press" conference he was refering to. It was a conference on native american affairs. He made his remarks as such before going on to the shootings at fort hood. If it was a spur of the moment press conference to discuss the shootings i would be inclined to aggree however it was not.
I do however find it interesting that op left that out and was kind enough to misinform the readers of this thread in such a way as too make it look like he was just going off on some random tangent thank you session for reporters. Good spin

An apparently unbiased and valid point which it seems fair and reasonable to raise for consideration. There's no future for you on here if you are going to continue to post like this unless you have a very thick skin

BDG and memikey ... did either of you actually watch the video?

Did the announcement that the Obama folks had told them this was for Obama to address what happened?

Or ... is the urge to defend the honor of dearest leader that much of a concern that you ignore reality?

Now, that being said, it makes no difference WHY the meeting was held. A POTUS who feels that giving his boyz a shout out is more important to address first than a mass murder is a POTUS who is a joke.

You may both now resume your regularly scheduled self immolations in defense of dearest leader.

Tbo your right i did not watch what im sure to be a riviting build up by fox news on your youtube clip. I did however watch the broadcast live via another equally biased channel. I sometimes see things a bit different than most...sure of that im guilty but your automatic assumption of my political views is very telling. In fact i learned alot about you from your post concerning my comments. The odd use of the term "boyz" is a clear indication that you harbor more than a little racism or at the very least a complete misunderstanding of the "urban" culture. Im sure it not your fault though as these things tend to be an environmental disorder. Goodluck with your condition as well as your grand conspiracy theories. Remember ...big brother is watching

Actually ... nothing of the sort.

I also watched it live, on either CNN or MSNBC ... flipping channels, and they also said it was being held so the POTUS could comment on the tragedy.

Thanks however for confirming that you don't look at the evidence you pontificate upon ... most O-cult members lack the integrity to make such confessions.

Now, that being said, you seem to be implying that somehow the Fox clip shows a different event than what the other networks televised?

LWW....you're the one who it seems either hasn't watched or hasn't understood, either that or you do undertand very well and are are just spinning.

The Fox News build up and lead-in isn't how the gentleman at the venue introduced the President. He didn't say "Here's the President who has suddenly arrived here for the sole purpose of talking to you to about a shooting at Fort Hood".

It's quite normal for a President's people to let it be known in advance to the media that at a particular already scheduled appearance he will take the opportunity to mention an extraordinary and important unfolding event.

Are you seriously suggesting that this was not an already scheduled address to that group of people and that the President would not have addressed them at all at that time had there been no shooting?

As for your ridiculous assumptions of my partiality, this is your usual disingenuous distraction tactic when struggling for answers based on facts after you've been pulled up on some exaggeration or another. Repeating it over and over again doesn't make it any truer. Even you don't believe it.

I'm seriously suggesting that I have witnessed you buy every excuse ever offered up by the O-cult and immediately leap to defend any implication that there may actually be terrorists who practice Islam as a religion and display a history of attacking anyone who believes Obama is less than the messiah and a history of implying that anyone who believes there is such a thing as Islamic fundamentalists practicing terrorism must be advocating killing innocents.

It's hard to imagine any one post with more inaccuracy or deliberate lies as are contained therein.

I'm far too angry about the content of the above to reply point by point to anyone who would stoop so low as to produce something so blatantly and maliciously fabricated.

Mike, really, it's OK.

I understand why.

You live in a nation where sharia more or less the law of the land ... so I understand your reluctance to ever speak out.

Obama's Frightening Insensitivity Following Shooting

A bad week for Democrats compounded by an awful moment for Barack Obama.
By ROBERT A. GEORGE
Updated 2:56 PM CST, Fri, Nov 6, 2009

President Obama didn't wait long after Tuesday's devastating elections to give critics another reason to question his leadership, but this time the subject matter was more grim than a pair of governorships.

After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. At about 5 p.m., cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective.

But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president making introductory remarks. At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior's Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a "shout-out" to "Dr. Joe Medicine Crow -- that Congressional Medal of Honor winner." Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?

Anyone at home aware of the major news story of the previous hours had to have been stunned. An incident like this requires a scrapping of the early light banter. The president should apologize for the tone of his remarks, explain what has happened, express sympathy for those slain and appeal for calm and patience until all the facts are in. That's the least that should occur.

Indeed, an argument could be made that Obama should have canceled the Indian event, out of respect for people having been murdered at an Army post a few hours before. That would have prevented any sort of jarring emotional switch at the event.

Did the president's team not realize what sort of image they were presenting to the country at this moment? The disconnect between what Americans at home knew had been going on -- and the initial words coming out of their president's mouth was jolting, if not disturbing.

It must have been disappointing for many politically aware Democrats, still reeling from the election two days before. The New Jersey gubernatorial vote had already demonstrated that the president and his political team couldn't produce a winning outcome in a state very friendly to Democrats (and where the president won by 15 points one year ago). And now this? Congressional Democrats must wonder if a White House that has burdened them with a too-heavy policy agenda over the last year has a strong enough political operation to help push that agenda through.

If the president's communications apparatus can't inform -- and protect -- their boss during tense moments when the country needs to see a focused commander-in-chief and a compassionate head of state, it has disastrous consequences for that president's party and supporters.

All the president's men (and women) fell down on the job Thursday. And Democrats across the country have real reason to panic.

The President knew this was going to be a live address. He knew the whole country would be watching. That being known, who cares who he was in front of? The Fort Hood situation takes precedence over anything else. Not to mention he confuses the Medal of Honor and the Medal of Freedom refering to the person he awarded it to.

Hard to imagine a longer run-on sentence, especially one utterly devoid of punctutation as well.
