Yes a lot happening in the Southwest in Sept. The Carefree event will also be great, but is very different from the BCAPL Regional Championships. The event at Carefree is open, race to 9 on both sides, double elimination, limited to 128 player field, co-ed. Imagine it will draw alot of the top A and pro level players from around the western part of the U.S. Wonderful two weeks of pool for sure

All AZ 9 and 10 rated players have been reviewed and some were adjusted based on known ability to play as either an Advanced player or Master player at the regional event. While some are still eligible to play in the open singles at the national level, at a state / regional level they will either be playing only as an advanced or master.

Additionally, the top two Open Men's Singles finishers from the 2008 Arizona State Championship have been moved to play as an Advanced player at the state / regional level. However, their national rating will remain as it is with no changes.

The OPEN B Division should be a very nice addition and be able to attract the most players. Arizona 6's and below makes up 89% of all the rated players in Arizona! (12,798 players)

The OPEN A Division is made up of 10% of the players (1425 players).

Add in all the neighboring states and this event could grow into something fantastic!

Below is the Criteria for teams:

General Eligibility: Must have either 4 weeks of sanctioned BCAPL or USAPL league play after June 1, 2010, been eligible to have played in the 2010 BCAPL National 8-Ball Championships, or have 8 weeks of play within one session & division in a sanctioned BCAPL or USAPL league June 1, 2009 - May 31, 2010. All teams may have up to 8 players on their roster with each team fielding 4 players per round. Player ratings are determined by the CSI office.

Men's / Mixed Open Team: May have 1 Advanced Player per team roster. Master players are not eligible to play on a Men's / Mixed Open Team. All players must meet the general eligibility requirements. Advanced players may come from ANY sanctioned BCAPL or USAPL league but must reside within the same state as the team. Open level players must be from the same BCAPL or USAPL sanctioned league division.

Mixed Advanced / Master Team: May have 1 Master and 1 Advanced or 2 Advanced players per roster. All players must meet the general eligibility requirements. Master and Advanced players may come from ANY sanctioned BCAPL or USAPL league but must reside within the same state as the team. Open level players must be from the same BCAPL or USAPL sanctioned league division.

Women's Teams: May have 1 Master and 1 Advanced or 2 Advanced Players per team roster. All players must meet the general eligibility requirements and may come from any BCAPL or USAPL sanctioned league but must come from the same state as the remainder of the team. The Open level players must come from the same BCAPL or USAPL sanctioned league.

I did notice the wording on the women's teams on the entry form is a little tough to read, so I've explained it better above. If anyone has any questions I encourage you to call the CSI office directly at (702) 719-7665. Ask for either myself or Bill Stock.

We have been asked by several people will their finish in this event have an impact on their national rating. The only way that would be the case is if the individual shows a pattern nationally or regionally of consistently playing at a level higher than what we have that player as being nationally rated. This is part of the definition of "known ability". Otherwise, no the finish in one regional event will NOT change your national rating.

To avoid a late fee, postmark or fax your entry no later than August 16th.

Entries with a late fee will be accepted if faxed or postmarked between August 17 - 21.

On-Site SINGLES entries will be accepted up till 3 pm Wed. Sept. 1st. Team entries will NOT be accepted on site.

Make sure to read the eligibility and registration details on both the singles and team entry forms.
