The DC Metro equivalent of Realkingcobra: Scruffy1 of Classic Billiard Service!

Do I bug you?

I’m pleased to give my highest endorsement to John Burns (Scruffy1 on AzBilliards) of Classic Billiard Service for the re-leveling and re-clothing work he just performed on my Olhausen table. His work was recently recommended in this thread:

...and he was endorsed by many people, including realkingcobra whose work is amazing.

John discovered that the previous work was pretty poor. In particular, the original pocket facings weren’t the same thickness—not even close! This, no doubt, contributed to the well-known “Olhausen rattle”, the disturbing effect of the seemingly well-struck ball not going in the hole, but simply bouncing back and forth between the facings.

John also noticed that the original installation was missing some hardware. I didn’t ask what specifically, but he sent his assistant to purchase what was needed from the local store and made it right. He also carefully aligned the slates and took care of all the leveling irregularities that I put up with for the past 4 years. John even touched up the scratches on the rails from 6 years of play.

Now I have a wonderful table, better than it was on day 1. We are very lucky to have someone of RKC’s caliber here in the DC Metro area and I highly recommend him.

Please look at some pics of the finished product. I went with tournament blue Simonis 860 for the first time (my previous cloth was green). I wanted a color that would give a brighter surface and this is perfect. It’s much easier to see the balls, especially when they’re close to the rails. Notice the beautiful RKC style pocket work!

Thank you for a table that is now giving me a renewed desire to play. I finally have a perfect & fair table after all these years. Shots that are supposed to go in, do. Shots that aren’t supposed to, don’t .

Now I just need some lessons from Scott Lee & a lot of practice, practice, practice!

Beetle,

I can not thank you enough for the very kind words. It was such a pleasure working at your home. What a nice set-up! I am extremely pleased you are satisfied.

It is also the highest compliment i have received by being mentioned along side my friend, Glen aka Realkingcobra who is truly the best. The information Glen has shared with everyone is invaluable.

Thank you again everyone!

John, I talked to Glenn a few days ago and he told me that when he is in Maryland doing my table you will be with him.

I am so excited of the prospect that my GCII will finally be done by not one but two professionals!

Looking forward to the visit.
