Hilton Hotel CHEAP RATES

Now, I don't know if this works everywhere but in Lafayette, LA, the cheapest rate for the Hilton Hotel listed on their website is $109.00 a night, which is right up there with the other three star hotels.

BigTruck told me the secret to getting a hotel rate of $37 per room was to go to Priceline.com and bid on the room for this number. I was skeptical at first but bellied up to Priceline and sure enough, they awarded me the room for $37 plus taxes. I actually got two rooms for the Lafayette tournament.

For the banditos, my wife will be home and she shoots a consistent, 6" group at 20 feet using a 38 Special. :nono:

This might work for other towns as well. Just thought you might be interested in saving 72 dollars a night.

Did you pick the hotel and then bid? or were you randomly assigned a hotel?

Chris

I picked a three star hotel, which I understand is better and more ways than just that it is a higher quality hotel, then bid. They list many of the three star hotels and they are of the higher quality for sure.

They do however pick the specific 3 star hotel where you will stay. If you go to the same place over and over, if you bid the same amount, it is more likely that you will get the same hotel unless they cannot accomodate you at that hotel.

no he had to bid.....i have done this many many times......

HOTWIRE is better IMOP b/c you can pick the hotel and i get the hilton/peartree/holiday inn/HIE etc for around 50 a night with hotwire.....

with priceline you might get stuck on the other side of town and out of your way.....

tho both sites are great, i do prefer hotwire and i have used customer service with both and HOTWIRE wins hands down.....

While we're talking about hotels, here's a website/forum that may also be useful for folks who like to use Hotwire & Priceline. I don't have any affiliation or anything with it, I've just had very good luck using it to figure out which hotel is a 2 star, 3 star...and how much to bid for them. Think of it as an AZBilliards for Priceline/Hotwire :-)

Nope Keebster, you pick your area.

This is "insider info" for Lafayette. You will always get Hilton, Courtyard by Marriott or Crowne Plaza. Bid 3 star and 37.

7 miles from White Diamond Billiards
16 miles from Emerald Billiards

Done.

GG, how do you get to pick the hotel? I just used hotwire to book a room and the only info they give you is the star rating and a map that tells you the hotel is within a shaded area. But they do not divulge the exact hotel - at least not if you are going with the Hotdeal rate. I called the customer service and they said they have two rates. If you go for the cheaper hot deal rate you do not get to choose the hotel. The other rate is pretty much what you could get on Hotels.com.

BTW, I went for it any way and did good. My big concern was that they were liberal with the ratings (i.e. calling motel 6 a 3 star hotel) but I did get one of the two hotels I would have booked anyway, and saved about $40/night.

Thanks for the tip, just wondering how you go about getting to choose the hotel.
