Has anyone ever turned down a Sugartree shaft?

So I bought a Sugartree directly from Eric last year, and I love the way it hits. My only complaint, and it is a minor one, is that I'm not crazy about the taper of the shaft. I have fat fingers, and when I use a closed bridge I have a little trouble with being able to follow through as far as I want. I have e-mailed Eric about making a second shaft with a long pro taper, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet, which I understand, given how busy I'm sure he is. So I'm curious if any has had any experience with turning down a Sugartree shaft?

If you have, what I would like to know is specifically if it altered the feel of the hit at all. I absolutely love the way my cue hits, and I would not want to risk changing that for a small degree of comfort on some shots. However, if I could have a shaft with a pro taper that retained the same hit that I now have, I feel like it would be the perfect cue. I'm due to replace the tip pretty soon, so taking the shaft down could be done at the same time.

Any thoughts or experiences with a similar situation would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Johnny. Sorry I missed your email. Been having trouble with emails lately & folks telling me i'm not getting them. Not sure what's going on. Working on it, though.

To the shaft. You can turn it down no problem. If you don't change the taper drastically, then it'll feel pretty much the same. At most, all it'll do it very slightly soften the hit but not to a degree that it feels alien from what what it is now. Justin from TAR shaves all his down & swears by it. I hit with his after it was shaved & it hit just fine.

Nice

That is better customer service than Apple. Post and cuemaker responds. Another reason I like this board

Eric,

No problem about the e-mails. I remember seeing you post something on here shortly after I sent it saying you had something like 500+ e-mails to go through. When I didn't get a response after a month or so, I figured my e-mail was lost in cyberspace, because you were incredibly quick with responses when I ordered my cue.

I'll have my guy take the taper down a little for me when I have him put a new tip on it, and if I don't like the way it hits anymore I'll figure out a way to get in touch with you to buy a new stock shaft.

Thanks for the quick response, and thanks for building me an awesome cue. You are truly a pleasure to do business with, and I wish you all the success in the world.
