Let's Boycott the ABP and their affiliates

I honestly think AZ members are making things worse.
Too much sh1t slinging and slanderous comments.
THIS IS HURTING POOL
People please refrain yourselves for the good of the sport.
Let BB and the ABP work it out without all this provoking that has been
going on

are you daft? those are some of the greatest pool players alive. for years everyone has agreed that the male pros needed an organization. now they have one. and you want to boycott the players? every year behrman says the players will get paid right away and it doesnt happen. now the players want proof of funds. not unreasonable. thats what a player union is for. every person on this forum should be 100 percent behind the players.

It's amazing how quickly this thing turned so ugly..

I'm sure the players are astounded... I'm sure they expected some negative reaction, but the personal attacks and insults on peoples' ways of life are pretty disappointing.

All sports, almost every single one of them, have seeding. Tennis, football, basketball, and on and on and on..

[There is a reason for seeding, and a damn good one.] Pools argument that it might drive off more amateurs is just absured... what's the reasoning? Because they might lose because they might have to play a top flight pro in the first round

Get outta here.. that's called sports.. does pool want to try to become a sport?

We will see

And what is your damn good excuse for seeding?

And what is your damn good excuse for seeding?

The only reasonable argument for seeding that I can think of is to make sure the top players are preserved in the later rounds for the fans. I don't buy it. Maybe longer races or double elimination but I think seeding will drive away some of the top amateurs.

Then why was it included as a major issue in the ABP announcement letter?

Interesting views!

This has been a great lesson in perspectives. We have all on here on both sides of the arguement. But I believe no matter what side of the arguement you are on, there isnt a one of us that would do a job that you are not getting paid for! These pool professionals chose this as their primary source of income. Yes it was their choice as many of us have chosen our professions. Just as being a promoter of the sport for 35 year was a choice made. You can say its for the love of the game or whatever you want. If you pay out the money for your expenses in hope that you will win or at least get into the money to recoupe at least some of you investment if not all. When the pool professional enter an event they know they have a shot to win, but all know that win isnt guaranteed. But I promise you each and every one of them expect that if they do win they will be paid what was promised when it was promised, as they should expect that. I dont think for one second Barry's intent was to not pay what was owed, but it happened just the same. If at the beginning it is made know that monies will be paid within a certain time then everyone who plays are aware of whats going on with the money. None of us would go to work and not get paid for the work we did. Not a one of us would get in the box with someone and get stiffed and then turn right back around and play him again without collecting and posting. So why would any of us expect for these guys to go and incur the expense of a weeks stay and meals and gas and not collect every penny owe at the completion of their win or high finish in the tournament. I just dont see how anyone can argue against that? Just my humble opinion.

Here's the ABP announcement:

No mention was made of seeding as being a issue.
Thank you for clarifying this. The US Open has been seeded every year that I can remember. BB seeds the evet off of a random seeding based on BCA and World rankings. They randomly draw the seeds into seeded spots in the bracket because they have no way of determining who should be put in the #1,2,3,4,5,6 etc. spots ! There has to be a better way to seed this event.

Shawn,

Although the ABP press release didn't say anything about seeding issues, Barry's press release did: "... I have been informed that some members of the ABP were demanding to be seeded into other events, and many made threats to walk if they were not."

Can you shed some light on Barry's comment?

For seeding to work, you must seed every event on the Pro Tour calender ! If you have 1 event not seeded and you get a bad draw, place real low and lose ranking points, then the next event is a seeded tournament then you are seeded lower than you should have been ! Have you ever seen a tennis tournament that wasn't seeded ? There is a good reason

Shawn, good to see you posting under your member name. I guess you found your cookies!

So, if seeding is important, how is the ABP going to handle the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour $25,000-added Turning Stone Casino tournament? We all know Mike Zuglan does not approve of seeding on the Joss Tour.

All of us said as far as the seeding goes for this year we will just deal with it . As far as next year we will make decisions as to what tournaments are gonna be on our calender based on comunication with promoters !

Cool. Thanks for the kind reply. It's nice to see you posting under your own member name. Good luck to you in your future tournaments, Shawn! I hope you shine in the winner's circle!

Somewhat obviously, that was not general knowledge...

Thanks for sharing, though I doubt BB shares my positive reception upon your letting that cat out of the bag :-)
