Corey Deuel breaking with a bridge??

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phSe3RX_Pxw

Above is the link where Corey is using a bridge to break against Mike Dechaine. I have never seen anyone do this before, but it seems like he is doing well with it.

BUT, what is the real point of this? Has anyone tried it?

I remember reading somewhere that he feels that it is more stable or something along those lines. Sounds like a personal preference to me.

Lots of times i have seen him play matches, gamblin matches where he has to use the bridge every shot. Not sure thats what this is, i didnt watch it, but its a possibility.
Ive seen guys use thier toes to bridge every shot.
People come up with all kinds of ways to get action.

Jumpin : he was just breaking with it during his match in the Seminol Event last year in RI.

The bridge head is a constant. He's using it to more easily perform a repeatable/duplicated break.

I was there watching...and I don't think their was any other reason for doing it but...CUZ HE CAN!

I remember the first time he started breaking with a bridge.
It was in 2008, may or june, at a big event in vegas.
I forgot which event, couldve been the predator international 10 ball championship, not too sure, the event did not allow the use of a soft break.
Rumor has it, that he started using the bridge to break to protest the soft break ban.
After he started breaking with the bridge, every pro tried it out too, thinking it would be as advantageous as the 9 ball soft break.
Back then, he was also soft breaking in 10 ball, he would hit it dry in such a way that the 1 ball would come next to the side pocket and the cue ball was hidden behind the rack, and the opponent had no shot at the 1. After getting ball in hand, he would run the rack like straight pool.

Corey know things.

Everybody has a hustle. Keith plays left-handed, one-handed, and can play all games, unlike the one-trick ponies out there today. :p

Trying to get in action, Keith tried to hustle Corey, saying he'd play one-handed to Corey shooting every shot with a bridge. Unbeknownst to Keith, the mechanical bridge was Corey's hustle. ;)

Keith got barbecued in record time, less then 20 minutes, race to 10! :embarrassed2:

I agree, and it gets under the skin of some people.
