Travelling with cues? Found a great solution..thanks to JB!

I'm flying to the states next week and will be bringing some cues back to Asia, however i'm in dilemma. Should i ship the cues back or hand carry via checked in luggage. I get to hand carry my cues onboard aircrafts when i travel within China or when i shuttle between Singapore and China. However i know that's not possible between the states and China. That said i don't feel that comfortable simply checking in a cue case...

I tried putting my cue cases into my luggage to see if they could fit and all but one could fit in diagonally, it was the GTF Case. There was a slight chance i might be bringing back 2 cues back and i could fit 2 GTFs into the luggage and all my problems would be solved.

I spoke to John about my "predicament" although it was technically solved i asked if he had any used 3x4 interior tubbing that he could lend me so that i could try and see that it could work.

Well our dear John took matters into his own hands and wouldn't stop at just sending me a used tube...he made me a simple and fuss free cue holder that fits into my luggage perfectly without taking too much space. So now i have my luggage + the JB holder to protect my cues. Although i've not travelled with it yet to prove it's worthiness but i'm pretty certain it'll work fine.

Here's some pictures to share and if anyone's considering travelling on international flights with their cues...well here's a great solution!

Whew! Just made it.

I don't plan to make these a regular item but we certainly can make them on demand. With suitcases being all different what's needed is to know the diagonal measurement from corner to corner but also the most width that the case can be.

Also shipping is a problem because the case itself is cheap to make and would be priced low but the shipping would still be around $75. Since Jive is here in China shipping to him is about $10.

But this little quickie project did get me thinking along the lines of storage cases. I was thinking about making a stackable case that's very efficient and with removable interiors. This could be something that has some use and appeal. We'll see, added to the project list......

I've been traveling around the world with a very simple yet very protective case that JB Cases made...

John Barton truly put cue protection first in his case business. I wish i travel that much to get one of that case from him.

Obviously I'm just one guy...and I don't travel a ton...but when I do, I want to take my cues with me. I just took a trip home and wanted to play while I was there, so I had my 4x8 overnighted (both to and from) at a cost of about $150...for just one trip!

John, I think you'd have a definite market for these...

Had a similar problem traveling with cue cases. A bat bag purchased from any sporting goods store solved the problem for about $30.

Bat bags are good if you want a bag to carry a case in. What Jive wanted was a case that fit into his hard shell suitcase. So using the diagonal measurement we were able to create a case that fit.

This way he eliminates having to deal with an extra bag. He already has one of our travel bags to carry his cases in. We sell them for $40 and they are sized just right for cue cases with generous padding.

This one below is what we designed for Sterling:

Don't temps get pretty low in the storage areas? Just wondering how people get around that and not as many cues get damaged as I would think. Maybe I'm just silly for thinking it gets lower but I swear I read it somewhere...

Think about it like this. When cues are shipped they are put in the same conditions as luggage or maybe even worse. And those are shipped in cardboard tubes or triangular boxes. Cues are generally made to withstand quite a bit and flying does not seem to bother them.

I saw this case first hand and i will tell it's a good thing to have .If i did alot of flying around with cues this is a way to go... Good job JB..
