John Schmidt's run

379.....

Congrats Danny on such a wonderful run. You surely are a gifted player. That is something that you can always be proud of.

Hi C.J. thanks for the compliment, as far as Mosconi's record I do think it would be in jeapordy if I had more of a reason to practice and the table I was playing on has a few problems with the way the corner pockets are cut plus the rails are slow (not Artemis). One of the corner pockets has a bent shim (should have been replaced when last re-felted) and you must pot the ball pocket speed or else it will reject the ball down the rail for sure which is not right as the pocket shelfs are shallow and 5" pockets. It has been a long term goal for me to surpass Mosconi's record and I might have done so last night had it not been for the skid on the thirteen - Willie Mosconi was a true champion in my opinion. I have the stamina as I still enjoy running (marathon's) as you know controlling the heart rate when approaching the p.r. is key and I believe my running helps control that plus I have always thrived off of presure situations in this wonderful sport of pocket billiards. The run took two hours and fifteen minutes C.J. and thanks for being a positive role model (I real eyes) :)for all the young guns out there Mr. Wiley (former Missouri boy).

Thanks Straight Pool Man and Hungarian for your acknowledgment and there will be more high runs in the future I am fairly sure. Ohh and you will have the first copy available Bobby Chamberlain(Wrldpro). I have learned a new end game pattern and also figured out more on the break shots, throw in the glove and I think my game may have improved 8 to ten%. It's gettin' smoother' now, and the perfect run that Steve (the great) Lipsky talks about from time to "" will soon be available for purchase. I do wish it would not have ended on a skid - I did not hit the ball real soft, no inside spin either damn the dreaded skids and the number 13 ball but I am not too supersticiouse. In fact I had outside (helping english) and still caught a skid as the ball twisted but it's not my first rodeo in relation to the skid.

Congrats on the great run Danny. Unfortunate on the skid. Were you cleaning the balls every few racks like I've seen others do?

Via other folks quoting his posts, I see that Danny Harriman ran a 379. What a wonderful run, and too bad it ended the way it did (i.e. a skid). Sounds like it otherwise would've kept goin' and goin' and goin'!

Congratulations to Danny. Seriously. I tip my hat to him!

First of all congratulations on this epic feat of 379!!! Believe it or not I will bet you John would be proud of that run even though you guys dislike each other greatly....Anyone that knows anything at all about pool would be impressed by this incredible run and I doubt that would exclude John Schmidt......Great shooting buddy!!!!
 
Congratulations Danny on an incredible personal best. Very few people will ever match a number like that. Just plain amazing concentration and execution. I've never seen you play in person but you did have the 3rd highest run in the local room where I started playing pool a few years ago and the first place I ever saw 14.1, D & D billiards in Downingtown Pa.

Put me down for a copy of the video the day it's available for purchase. Congrats again on a world class run!

I have a question for Schmidt, did he run the 366 on a table like the one at q-masters in Virginia that was doctored'? The only reason I ask is cause I inspected the table where he ran the 400 at q- masters and what I noticed was astounding. If the ball that was hit softly towards the pocket it would go if it got in the jaws - due to the slate being sanded where the ball rolls down-hill and actually accelerated. Plus the facings of the pocket were very soft, it was simply the softest table I had ever seen and I am not sure that a ball would even hang up in the pocket as a result of the sanded slate. I think a table like this should be illegal in Jay Helfert and Fatboys challenge offer. Did he use any jump cue's I know he likes to fall back on that as a cushion even if it's been agreed upon to be illegal. After looking over the table in Virginia I would be interested in inspecting the table where he ran his other high runs. It's not my intention to take anything away from Schmidt and his natural ability to play great pool however I realize now that some people are better at promoting themselves than others and sometimes unless we really look into the details we can be mislead. I am totally against any table where the slate has been sanded near the pocket to make the pocket accept balls like an industrial strength vaccum. Unfortunately not everyone wants a level playing field.

At a time when you should be basking in the warm glow of a fantastic accomplishment, you choose to nitpick others and dwell in the past.

I am sure you do not care what the "cliques" say, but just relax and enjoy for a few days. Clear your mind. Think positive.

Talk to your buddy, Max, the Zen Master of Pool. I am sure he would have some good advice for you that would benefit you and give you peace of mind.

Edit: I just saw that you checked your run again and it was 351 and not 379. I guess that explains the otherwise cryptic note above your post that said "Schmidt's 366 still stands". Nevertheless, whether you had beat him or not, I still think you should enjoy your accomplishment and not use it as a platform for trying to tear down someone else. That never looks good.

Ok Dennis, you have always been genuine. Had you been there and seen schmidt throwing chalk at me and arguing about rules in our TAR match you might have a different view of him entirely. Do you think this is the way a grown man acts? A player should not have to be subjected to childish antics like that just cause there opponent is playing well. It's my opinion that John takes out his frustrations pertaining to the lack of money in pool on any formidable opponent (this is right on the money in case your wondering). He will call you names just for playing well but has no intention of ever defending his statements, this is the very essence of being a coward in my view. Believe me Mr. Walsh when I say that he has an attitude problem - lucky for him he knows he should cower in the bushes when it comes to backing up his verbal slander. I think TAR has now learned that their bully tactics (letting Schmidt mouth off at his opponents) does nothing positve for the sport. By the way Dennis he would not have apologized to Corey for acting up had he not thought he needed to for the sake of being politically savvy. When we played our last TAR match he had like 5 or six guys with him I guess it's cause they know he may act up and they need to be there in case someone has had enough of his crying. I forgive him but I have not forgot the names that he called me plus throwing chalk at me and all when I defeated him the first time.

I have an idea that would be really positive for you Danny. Instead of spending your energy on John Schmidt and his short comings. Go to Q Master Billiards where anyone can run 400 twice and beat Mosconi's record. That would be the best possible thing you could do for yourself. You would probably get more enjoyment in that as apposed to holding onto someone calling you names and throwing chalk at you in 2007 or 8. You should really consider moving on bro..I think it will really help you...;)
