Helllooooo! What's going on at Valley Forge Super Billiards Expo #2?

Waiting patiently for some up dates all!

Barbara & Timberly, I miss you guys, post some juicy stuff please! :D

Eydie,

I'm finally up in my room and waiting for the Jacuzzi to fill up. Saw Timberly on the way out. She stopped by this afternoon and found out a few things about her laptop and Internet card. I'll let her bring you all up to date on that.

So we're down to the final 4 in the Pro-Am after a 6 hour long match that ended at 3 am this very morning. Raj Vannala went 3 hill-hill sets with someone I don't recall. So the final 4 in the Pro Am are Redgie Cutler, Adam Smith, Shaun Wilkie and one match still going on after 5 hours between Mike Zygmunt and Matt Krah. Whoever suggested race to 8, best two out of three matches, should be shot. Oh wait, that was Allen. Okay, we're re-thinking THAT one!!!

The Seniors are still going on with Dave Daya and Horace Aughtree waiting for their other four opponents still playing. (note to tournament director: DO NOT schedule the Seniors play after 9 pm, you're robbing them of valuable couch time)

The Open has Billy Kirschner and Cosmo Salerno, but we can't remember who the other two are, maybe Tims will post.

Pam Treadway matches up with Tamiko Kumatori, and Diane Kyler matches up to Morgan Steinman tomorrow.

The Juniors have three (yes, 3!) Benhke brothers in the two finals. The other contestant is Ricahrd Barney in the 14 and Under final.

Will post more tomorrow. The Jacuzzi is filled and Rubber Ducky's getting impatient.

I got there about 4pm yesterday. I was expecting a charge to get in and was pleasantly surprised that there was none. Spectators got in free. There were a few more booths than I had expected and the crowd was much smaller and more manageable than the March crowd. Walking around wasn't a chore and you could actually find seats to sit in.

Sorry, I don't recall who is left in the amateur event. I was running around town with the laptop issues (post to come later on that) and didn't bring a purse, or a notepad.

I can tell you that Pam is playing really well and if she plays today like she did yesterday, there's no reason why she won't win the women's event. Morgan Steinman is always a threat and also played quite well yesterday.

I don't know who the other jr's are but I'm liking Richard Barney's chances. That young man has such a strong mental game and is so mature for his age, that it puts him well ahead of the rest his age. Watching him play and knowing what a nice kid he is, you can't help but pull for him and hope to see him win.

Adam "GQ" Smith is trying to follow up last wkends win with another win this wkend. He's definitely got a good chance of it. When I got there yesterday afternoon he was playing as solid as he did last week... not missing anything. The last match last night took a little wind out of his sails. He missed a few more and hooked himself a few times. The guy he played (Don't remember his name but I was told he's from Atlantic City) made a decent attempt to stage a comeback. He wasn't able to win the set but he made some great shots to try to stay alive.

Onepocketchump and deadstroke32 were there. Always a pleasure seeing both of them. I hung around the sterling booth, drank beer, and shot pool with John until around midnight and then I headed home.

The pit was there but as with everything else, it was on a much smaller scale. Just before I left, Larry Kressell was playing a guy from NC (no one I asked, knew his name). The set had ended just as I was leaving... I have no idea what they were playing for but I heard that Larry won. Sorry I can't give you better info on it.

This was my first time seeing Cosmo... I came in towards the end of his match with Mike. I liked his personality... fun guy. Does he post under cosmo or something else?

More Valley Forge info, please! :p

There is an amateur, ladies, and junior event, but I was hoping to ascertain who's in the "main" event. I read that Shaun Wilkie and Mike Davis are there, but I'd sure like to know who else is competing. $25,000 added will make the payouts enjoyable for the players. How many competitors were there in total, if you know?

I should have figured Larry Kressel made the trek. Any other action worth mentioning?

Thanks in advance. Now that I'm back home, I've got the inquiring mind. Allen Hopkins must be one tired pup going straight to Valley Forge to run his event after leaving the IPT touranment in Vegas. Whew!

Allen didn't appear too tired... This event pretty much ran itself considering how small it was and because they weren't charging admission. Of course the TD's & ref's worked hard as always but it just seems like there was no need for the policing of the crowd as is usually needed. I saw both Dawn & Allen walking around and socializing. They both seemed much more at ease and more relaxed than during March.

Jennie, I looked for you guys but once I didn't see Keith's name on the player chart, I knew ya'll weren't there. :(

I went with my computer instead of a pen & paper. Not having an elevated seat made it more trouble than it was worth. I was going to type up the updates in word and then go back upstairs where they had wifi to transfer the info. Sitting down and having others all around me and the computer itself blocking views of the table, I decided against it. Because of this, I don't have all the info on the players. All I can remember player wise is...
Mike Davis
Adam "GQ" Smith
Shaun "Get some" Wilkie
Lee Holt
Josh Brothers
Frankie Hernandez
Matt Krah
Pete Fusco

There weren't very many in the pro am and I recall not recognizing quite a few of the names. Some of those unknown's (to me) played some jam up pool like that guy from Atlantic City and there's a tall lanky guy that beat Mike Davis.

Mike wasn't playing up to par during this set but the guy was also barely giving Mike any chance to get to the table... he would break & run, Mike would break and 98% of the time he would scratch, the cue would fly off of the table, or he'd come up dry. Then the guy would run out. On the few times that Mike did pocket a ball and not scratch on the break, I recall him getting out.

First place in the pro-am paid $2000. I don't know what the others paid out.

LOL, when I saw Larry in the pit he had on a TAP league t-shirt and I thought maybe he bought it as a hustle type of shirt... He was actually there as a team member for one of the leagues out of Richmond. I know someone said they have a league almost every night of the week at the Playing Field so I assume that's where he's playing out of.

what is the date and location of this event??? thanks
This particular event is over today. They started at 10am this morning and not much left to play so they should be wrapping it up shortly.

The next event will be in Valley Forge (Philly) PA. March 2007. All the info can be found here.

This event wasn't very big... the March event is huge and you should try to make it out once in your lifetime if you can. ;)

This event was a cakewalk!! About 500 players instead of 2000!! I'll do this anytime!!

Okay, I left before the Seniors and the Pro-Am was completed, so here's what I've got:

14 and Under-

Chad Behnke vs Tyler Adolini, Richard Barney vs James Delotta;
Chad Behnke wins over Richard Barney.

18 and Under-

Ryan Behnke vs Chris Futrell, Adam Behnke vs Derek Schwager;
Ryan over Adam in the finals.

On a side note, it was an almost "All Behnke" Junior finals - Levi lost out to Richard Barney. I talked with the parents on Sunday, nice, nice family, and they drove all the way from Iowa!! Remember this name!!

Woman's-

Tamiko Kumatori vs Pam Treadway, Morgan Steinman vs Diane Kyler;
Pam wins over Morgan in the finals! (an All-JPNEWT final, YESSSSSSS!!)

Open-

Greg Davis vs Chuck Altomare, Billy Kirschner vs Cosmo Salerno;
Chuck wins over Billy in the finals.

Seniors -

Dave Daya vs Rich Larussa, Frank Fattori vs Horace Aughtree;
The sets were split between Horace and Rich when I left, sorry.

Pro-Am-

OMIGOD, what a nightmare!! One of the first semi matches on Sunday morning (10 am) took 5 HOURS!

Matt Krah vs Redgie Cutler, Adam Smith vs Shaun Wilkie;
Adam was STILL playing the first set over Matt Krah when I left at 4:30.

All in all, it was a great event and we managed to run 50 8-person mini-tournaments with varied entry fees and a full payout that was "winner-take-all". The Juniors had a free entry with prizes to first and second place.

I got to hook up with Timberly and NJHustler1, and FAST AND LOOSE stopped by with his latest beautiful Tascarella (sorry to hear about your car, I had a little ding on the side of mine, too). HighEndCues allowed me to hold the Joel Hercek's "Gladiator" cue and the Gus he has for sale (not too shabby, huh!!).

Barbara~~~home at last!!

Barbara-
Ken let me hold the Gladiator cue a few times as well and I must say, Hats off to Joel Hercek on some outstanding work! That cue is a beauty. Although I have to admit, I'm still partial to the Ebony, Ivory, and gold wrapless Bender that he had a few months ago. That thing looked even better in person than it did in pictures.

Just the other day, I walked into Ken's room and he asked me (with a mischevious grin) if I wanted some ivory. Now I'm not a cuemaker so between that fact and the little grin, I sensed something was up. When I walked behind the counter, I saw two gigantic elephant tusks just sitting there. He said he was shipping them out the next day to "a couple of cuemakers" (he wasn't specific but I have a few ideas) so I would expect to see a few more ivory-handled beauties in his stable in the future!!!

Did anyone notice the Gambling table at Expo #2?

I was at the Super Billiards Expo #2 on Friday. I noticed that there was alot of activity at the Gambling table. There was this guy, maybe low to mid 20's, kinda spiked hair, taking on anyone for any amount. He tried to get a game for $5000 but the other player wouldn't do it.

Anyone know who this was? Just wondering....

It was "Russian Kenny". What a mouth he is. He was starting some crap with Cosmo in the Open. Cosmo took the high road and didn't throw anything back.

Russian Kenny....Cosmo?

What do you know about this Russian Kenny kid? Where is he from? Yes, he did have a mouth, but he was actually entertaining to watch. And he played very well. What did he start with Cosmo?

That's the first I've ever seen him. A friend of mine knows more about him. Apparently he's from the area and gambles big.

He lost out to Cosmo and when Cosmo came to the tournament desk to hand in his scoresheet, Kenny started in with him about a bad hit call Cosmo made against Kenny. Cosmo just let it slide and walked away but Kenny started to get real loud which got the attention of the TD. Unfortunately we didn't have any security people working this Expo.
