New Thread concerning my Table pictures on AZ.

Firstly, I appreciate the suggestion and will possibly create another folder with projects in motion. Secondly, I post my pictures of my completed projects because I am proud of my work and my clients are happy with their tables. I only have room to put up a couple of shots because of the 60 picture limit and I obviously have the folder FULL. Finally, My clients that purchase a table are offered pics of their projects in motion:) I have even gone as far to find old pictures of where the table came from originally! Example: I bought an Anniversary model C in Sommerville, Ohio and the table came out of the Moose Lodge in Hamilton. I found pictures of the lodge before it was torn down and included them in the project folder for the owner. I also put him in touch with the still operating Moose Lodge in order for him to try and get pictures of people actually playing on it. Thanks again for the suggestion :) I really have not had any issues selling tables and my clients have only given me compliments on my previous work from the photo album.

Earlier today I was given a GREAT idea by a good buddy Jack in Dartmouth, Mass. He read all this and we had a nice chat about it all and he suggested I get testimonials and post them on the table descriptions in my albums. I do offer references to my new clients and they have not once asked me to provide them. They all came here and looked at my album before they made their deposits so it seems to be working and bringing new traffic to the website in general:)

I totally understand where you are coming from. Testimonials and references are always good to have in case a potential customer that doesn't know you or your work can ask people about the quality of your work. In most instances I would guess a client is a new to you and your work.

You don't have to post pics in a bunch of folders on az. I use photobucket that is free to host all of my cues, cases, etc. When someone asked for something I have, I just link my az thread to it. You could do the same with your progress/work pics. This could also be used to show potential customers the kind of work you do.

Showing pocket miter angles don't show your work Trent, it just shows the miter angles. Someone requesting photo's from you vs you posting pictures of your work here on AZ is two different things...with the latter being the proof in the pudding that your work passes inspection so to speak. Thing's like the bottom of the rails once the cloth has been installed, the bed cloth being installed, the slates leveled and seams filled, superglued as well. There's a lot of things that you could show that you're at least learning, and if somethings not quite right...that's where you get the help from those that know how to do it right, through PM's and phone calls.

I'm not knocking on you Trent, but Mark had the right point about traveling mechanic's, and was not attacking the OP in that thread...he was simply making potental customers aware of what COULD take place, so proceed with caution if you're thinking about making an appointment with the OP, as kind of a public service.

I understand completely where he was coming from and I just really think he could be 100% more professional about the way he delivers his message. I really do not want to get into this again, I spent waaaaaay to many keystrokes on the topic yesterday. I am not trying to compete to be better than anyone, the customer dictates what they get. When they hire me to restore a table I complete the job to the very best of my ability and if I cannot do it to the quality I would accept for myself: I "farm" the work out to someone else and it is as simple as that. Again, I am not trying to compete with anyone. I love what I am doing and most importantly my clients really are happy with my work. Am I saying my tables play or look perfect: NOPE. I try my very best to make it play and look the best I can? YESSSSS! Most of my clients are by far un-intelligent and 99% of them are wealthy, so, Its not like I can or would ever try to "pull the wool" over any of their eyes. I have been very blessed to have such a wonderful group of people that I have restored tables for, I look forward to each an every new customer. You, Mark and quite a few of the other mechanics have inspired me so much since I started coming to this forum. I saw the work you guys do and knew from day one I was going to have to continually research and LEARN. I also knew I would get beat on a little by you guys on here from day one as well, consequently; its just the nature of being the new guy. Remember when you said this in my defense when I very first come on AZ:

"Mark and I didn't start out where we're at now, we started out in this business just like everyone else...by ourselves and no one to turn to for lessons, and trust me...we've messed some tables up in the past...both of us...but I'd never try and stop someone who's willing to take this job on for a living. As I've said in the past...this line of work will decide who comes and goes in time."

I am still here, still learning and not going anywhere: I am hooked on these Vintage Brunswick Pool Tables! I appreciate everything I have learned from all of you and for putting up with my "newness" !!!! Thanks again!
