I just discovered that my "bargaining" with cuemaker thread has been deleted. While I don't understand why this particular thread was chosen to be deleted, oh well .. life goes on.

I actually thought the topic was kind of interesting and was seeking inputs from cuemakers' perspective (that is why it's in this section of the forum).

I apologize for all the "sagas" that got started by the thread .. it certainly wasn't my intention to stir the pots.

Have a safe and happy new year, everyone.

I for one, and I said this in the post, do not believe for one second you were trying to call out Duke. It was a valid question and post which I had some interest in as well. At least there were some serious responses before it spun off into two "flames".

I personally feel you have little to apologize for.

Why was it deleted? I remember the flames (I was one of the flamed), but it never got nasty and every made up through the PM route. I don't remember anything being egregious enough to delete the entire thread.

Duke was banned for a month. Sometimes when someone is banned as a result of flames in a thread, the thread gets deleted. Guilty by association sort of. The problem related to you was pretty small..but people telling Duke to go F himself, him telling people to go F theirself, him telling people they don't deserve to have a good day or a good holiday etc got kinda bad imo.

Duke was a pain in the thread, but why not just delete the offending posts? I knew he got banned for it, but wasn't that a few days ago?

Oh well, no big deal. Jazz, you certainly don't need to apologize for anything.

Jazz...I agree completely! You do not to apologize for the thread. You even qualified your post with that it was not directed at anyone in particular. And we got varied posts FROM cuemakers.

I am not sure if Jeff is just hyper-sensitive, or is suffering from good ol' paranoia, but it really wasn't going to matter how the question was posed...he was going to find some way to make it about himself, and take offense accordingly.

I thought it was an interesting topic, with some interesting viewpoints...it was a shame that it went the way that it did.:(

It is a whole lot easier and faster to delete a thread than to read through every post in it carefully before editing to make sure that you have caught everything and don't leave something for someone to base claims of unfairness or favortism on.

A few quick clicks to delete a thread or sometimes hours of reading to sort through it; the choice is an easy one.

utter nonsense..........

Jazz,

There's ABSOLUTELY no need to apoligize for the thread. Only a dip$hit like Duke would think that you were calling him out, which was the farthest from the truth. That was an EXCELLENT TOPIC and WORTHY OF DISCUSSION with many different people's input...cuemakers, buyers, collectors, etc. We could have all LEARNED SOMETHING about the perceptions out in the market on this.

These threads getting pulled and how the Jimbo ban was handled is making me weigh in heavily on whether I will continue contribuing here. Not that I add a lot, but I would like to feel that some of my time spent here is helpful and worthwhile.

Personally, I think these recent events here are a joke.

IMO what's really sad in comparison is that a couple of world's best liars, cheats, and hatchetmen posted their foolishness on here using multiple IDs for the past few years, continually scamming people and threatening to ruin their business. That is a much greater problem here on these boards than Jim being his usual sometimes caustic, sometimes helpful, sometimes A-hole, but always honest self. Hey, none of us are perfect......

It's not your fault

People with limited experience with forums, newsgroups, and other online forms of communication will often behave very badly. They get worked up and post things that they would never say in the company of real people.
Banning the people that can't play nice, and deleting the trashy, non productive threads are (in my opinion) one of the advantages of web forums. Try checking out some of the newsgroups in usenet that have been basically ruined by trolls and selfish idiots.

No apologies neded..

I read almost the entire thread, when it was still there. In the words of Forrest Gump, "Stupid is as stupid does". The only people who took offense did so of their own choosing. When I was read the posts, I was seeing some interestng, useful information. As the old saying goes, the only stupid question is the one that DOES NOT GET ASKED, not yelling, just for emphasis, sorry. Whining will always exist, it's inevitable that someone will do it somewhere, sometime.
