This just showed up today! The leather wrap Rauenzahn is sold. The cue for sale is the Cortland wraped cue with the half joint 5/16-14 piloted stainless steel!
Offers New and unplayed!
One shaft 19 1/4 oz. 13mm shaft melamine ferrell! $850.00
I am very tempted to chalk it up so if you contact me don't be suprised if I have done just that. Jerry sold the prototype player for this cue to Greg Howard.
I call this cue a half joint cue because this is how Jerry makes his smaller jointed type cues and I didn't know what else to call it.. Hunter, Gilbert, and Searing all do this smaller joint in differant ways I am sure there are many more doing it too. They are all in my eyes half jointed cues. As to their methods of construction that is not for me to say.

Hey Nick,

Super looking half spliced joint. Whoever gets this baby is going to get one heck of hitting cue. I've been playing with my conversion cue Jerry Rauenzahn made for me recently and it hits SO SWEET!! Jerry -R- has been making cues as long as Timmy Scruggs and Bill Stroud, his cues are one of the best investments a person can buy right now. Besides, they play FANTASTIC!!!

There appears to be a seam in the Cortland wrap, about an inch above the buttsleeve. Just due to the angle of the photo? Sharp cue!!:)

i think in that particular spot of wrap, the two or three strands, the green specks just happen to line up across giving it that apprearence of a seam..

Nice looking cue, Nick!! I thought Mr. Searing had the market cornered on the half joint design....but I've seen a few Gilberts with it as well...and now a J.R. cue, too.

Best of luck on the sale of this stunning cue. I'm gonna have to get one sooner or later. He's on my "have never tried one" list.

No, no, sir....no need for anything even close to an apology.

The only point to my comment was that, in the beginning, the only cuemaker I knew of that did the half joint type construction was Mr. Searing. Shortly thereafter, I saw half a dozen Gilberts with the joint approximately half the height as a "standard" stainless steel joint.

Please don't misunderstand........I meant no harm in making the observation.

Truth be told, I can't think of any other name for it, either.

Very good idea to keep keep one of Jerry's cues Nick.

How does this cue hit compared to Jerry's standard SS joint cues?

Just got back from Skin and Texas Holdem billiard at basketball hall of fame in Springfield , Mass. Great show to be broadcast in April on ESPN.
Jerry's cue looks great
He is working one for me right now and I can't wait.
They always look and play great.
Nick's gain and the publics loss.

I might have a case for you next weekend! The cue hits veyy soft and I am pleasd. It is stunning. All of my cues but one are for sale sooner or later!

Tribute to Dennis Searing Cue :)

After being in contact with Mr Dennis Searing I would like to admit this cue was made as a tribute to the way he builds cues. Before I heard from Dennis I didn't want to mention that. We have talked a few times in the past and wish to respect his thoughts.
I thought it best not to mention Dennis but I wish ot respect him.
Dennis thought this was only right. This cue is not a exact copy of Searing's joint work but it has similarities.
The points are very very even in legnth probably within 1/16th of a inch or less of each other. The shaft is at least 4 ounces and fits very tightly in the steel joint.

This is definately a Searing tribute cue. I will only take PM offers!

You are a lucky man

After all I guess we are both lucky! Looks like I might have to wait a while unless Jerry has a suprise for me for another cue with this joint. Looking more like six months every day! But I might get a couple earlier than that. They will be a little more expensive I think by then.Ouch!

JR's 1/2 Joint Plays SWEET!

Heya Nick,

I got to play quite a few racks with this cue this evening....it is a SWEET playing cue! Hit is a little softer than I'm used to but, it's very well balanced and a solid hitter ;) Lot's of compliments on the cue at our tourney tonight!
