I got a conversion from Sailor. He called it a Hoppe. Someone else said it looked like an Adams.

Can you tell from the veneers??

It is definately not a Hoppe Titlist conversion, so Adam or Helmstetter would make sense to me. However, it is impossible to know for certainly without seeing the cue before conversion, but it really is not important at this point anyway, because it is a Salior Conversion now!!!!!!!:D

Hope this helps, and have a good night!!!

How is the Butt?

Does it have a hoppie Butt? Who cares about the point, it is the butt that counts. ;)

I have had 5 or 6 cues with that forearm, They always looked like they would be perfect for making "real" cues out of them. They were cheap imports from the 70's and often did palmer and adams knock offs. they seemed to mostly have real even points and good bright colors. and very little if any character to the maple. the last one I had, had a palmer looking foil under a clear window that said "PROFESSIONAL" in the same script that palmers had.

It is a Hoppie style cue

With a Hoppie ring. I would call it a Hoppie.
It is not a Willie Hoppie titlist conversion. That is a whole differant cue. It was described correctly by Sailor
Nick :)

Weren't there some cues made for brunswick in the 70's that used these veneers? I've seen a couple, but I can't verify for sure that is what they were, but supposedly only very few were made? They did have some nice points and veneer work though.

Those Veneers Were Used Alot In The 70's.... Sailor Could Have Gotten The Blank From Numerous Places.

I Saw A Titlist Cue Once That Had Those Veneers. It Was Like New With A Great Sticker Still Intact. Maybe The Last Batches Used Those Colors/blanks. I'm Not Big Into The Older Cues So I Don't Really Know.

Like Jayman Said, Those Points Were Also On Cheap Import Cues At The Same Time.

I'm almost 100% it's an Adam forearm from the 1980's. They made a lot with straight maple forearms and rosewood or similar points. The other ones that look the same by KPS Taiwan had thinner veneers. I'll see if I can dig up a sample and photo it tonight to compare.

A lot of these forearms are high quality and very difficult to tell from those made by Burton Spain. Even Tascarella converted some, Palmer bought some good ones (and later on , some stinkers) from overseas. The Adam ones were head and shoulders better than anything else coming from Asia - no comparison.

Those last Titlists were made in Asia somewhere too. I think Adam made them. I've seen the Titlist copy forearm on Adam cuies.

The top cue has an Adam built forearm form the mid 1970's - it's very similar to the one used on the Sailor conversion. The next cue down is an Adam forearm from the 1980's, below that is a Burton Spain forearm and the bottom is a John Davis blank.
