My Chaos Cue

Way way back in the 60's author Michael Moorcock wrote a series of books based on a Norse mythological character called
'Elric of Melnibone'. In the series, he made up an eight arrowed symbol to represent 'Chaos' for the main character's
troubled life. The Elric saga became so popular that the symbol caught on and is now generally accepted in society to
represent 'Chaos'. Well, without getting too personal, I kind of took to this symbol because of a troubled youth I had.
Cops, drugs, hospitals, and a temporary foster home by the age of 8 to give you an idea. I even have a tattoo of the symbol.
So, many years later, I'm browsing through Prather's web site of inlays and my jaw dropped to see the Chaos symbol available
as an inlay! Of course I had to have a cue made with these inlays! I searched around with some cuemakers to have it done but
didn't have much luck.I posted an open thread here on AZ and the guys at Carolina Custom Cues said they could do the
work (Thanks Runingman!). I worked with Trevor on a clean and simple design and he did all the rest. They had fantastic
communication and also VERY good pricing for a custom made cue.

Ebony points into a Maple forearm. Veneers are 1 thick natural and 1 thinner black. Jet black genuine lizard wrap. All the
inlays and Hoppe ring are ivory. Hoppe ring has silver bands on both sides of it. SS 5/16x14 joint. Trevor did the joint to
match some OB1 shafts I already have as well as included 1 extra Carolina Custom shaft.

Thank you so much Carolina Custom Cues for making this very personal cue for me. You guys kick ass!

Nice cue Rex. Nice touch w/ the symbol. Makes it unique and truely personal. Where you been hiding? Come down to Crown sometime...

Heya

1 word: Girlfriend. heh. Actually, I'm not doing too bad.. I've been hiding out underground trying to find some sort of stroke. I dropped out/burnt out of the USPPA but I have been playing. I will definitely come by Crown one of these nights or weekends. Or if you guys will do another spectacular cue exhibition!! Hope all is well with you and yours. Lemme know when is a good time to show up. Thanks too for the compliments on the cue!

Crown-

I will be getting my Barry tomorrow, so one of these sundays maybe we can meet down there and do another cue-o-rama. Mike has a really nice tascarella and a new mottey

Good looking cue. The backstory really makes it interesting, I think its cool when people put a little bit of themselves into a design instead of rehashing elements that have been done. It is hard to pull off and I think you did a fine job.

The cue can trigger a memory of a place and time when you were calm and safe, happy in the moment. Whenever you get hurried or upset in any way just rub your touchstone cue and go back to the mental state you want.

Great looking cue. Really simple and clean design. That chaos symbol looks pretty neat.

Great design and story to go along with it. Very traditional and classy styling.....my tastes to the T. Their progression with their work at the CC shop continues to amaze me. Inside of 5 years, they could be right up there with the best !! Enjoy.

Thank all you guys for the positive feedback! Trevor and the gang did a super job. The Maple figure is much nicer than I even expected. And the silver bands really make the Hoppe ring stand out. I'd also like to add that the shaft they made fits nice and snug. I'm definitely lucky. :D

I don't have to be deep,I hit with a 1970 Kersenbrock, the best hitting cue made.David Paul Kersenbrock invented the wood to wood big pin joint. It doesn't get any better than that. That wasn't too deep was it. LOL. The CC guys do make very nice cues though.poolrod.

nice job

I think you should call it "Stealer of Souls".

This sword here at my side don't act the way it should. Keeps calling me its master, but I feel like its slave.
-Blue Oyster Cult, "Black Blade" (lyrics by Michael Moorcock)

Or

A Stormbringer theme had crossed my mind. All black with red Ruin writing in the points would be pretty sick. Did you know Universal Studios bought the rights to make the Elric Saga movie? Can't wait!!

Brunswick did it many decades before David. But the particular style David used was a modification of Harvey Martins joint pin. Harvey also used a short Ivory joint. So I am guessing David got a lot of his inspiration from Harvey Martin. No doubt David massively improved upon Martins look and fit, but he did not invent the large pin joint.

I guess I should have said he made his own modification to the pin. Thank you cueman.poolrod.
