Keith and Mika will begin their match on the winners' side of the chart at 12:00 noon, EST, and I am sweating bullets and have bitten my nails down to the quick.
Keith is shooting with his brand-new Michael Webb shaft, a 4.0-plus ouncer, 12-3/4 shaft, and a hard Morri. It's nice and stiff, the way Keith likes it. Though he is still getting used to the shaft on his WilleeCue, he says he feels like a new man and thinks he game is going to get better and better as he gets used to it. Apparently, he's been playing with a shaft that had warped for sometime, and this new shaft may be Keith's weapon of mass destruction.
Right now, the eight remaining players are in the tournament room practicing solo, each trying to get in their zone. I couldn't update the forum yesterday because the computer room was closed, and my gerbil-driven dial-up could only connect at 9000.
Kim Davenport is hitting 'em mighty sweet. Yesterday, he and Keith was chatting it up, and I asked Kim about his nickname, "The California Kid." He said actually he is better known as "Magnum," though he kind of chuckled when he said he was feeling like a beebee in his match. He has had a very, very good tournament, knocking down quite a few heavy hitters.
Sparky Ferrell is another player who seems to be on top of his game this week at Turning Stone. He and Keith are both still in the winners' side, but they're going to be facing our international brethren, Keith against Mika and Sparky against Thorsten Hohmann.
Well, it's kind of quiet here this morning as the players are gearing up for the big event. I'm anxiously awaiting to hear more news about the IPT qualifier. Thanks to all for the good wishes for Keith. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best, but win or lose, I'm proud that Keith has made it to the final day. It is a difficult chore for a pool player who loves action to compete in a tournament which is in a casino, but I just love this place and can't wait for the next one this coming August.
