Got $1,200 to spend on a playing cue or preferably a playing cue and a break cue..

Anyone got any recommendations?

You can buy like 2.5 black boar shafts.....

On a serious note, gilbert, phillipi, scruggs sneaky are all good cues in that price range.

I recently turned to the dark side and play with a predator cue. I like it and its inside that budget.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the feedbacks.

I notice the majority of you have suggested custom cues, afraid my knowledge in this area is not refined at all.

1) If I were to use a custom cue, can I still use a production shaft? E.g. OB1, predator 314.2 etc?

2) How does the butt of the cue contributes to the feel of the hit? Because I understand it's the shaft and tip which determine the play

3) I live outside US, would it be especially troublesome to import a custom cue? How long is waiting time?

4) Any production cues to recommend? I'm personally tuned towards Mezz Ace or MPC3 series.

TIA,

Hi all,

I'm new to the custom cue scene.

2) Any production cue to recommend?

3) Lol I'm getting lotsa PMs

Other than Steve Lomax.. is Jacoby worth it?
Jacoby makes a real nice cue, and I love the way they play. The only downside is resale value should you decide to sell it at some point. If this concerns you then you may be better off to explore something along the lines of Josey, Kikel and a slew of other one man shops.

Moochy cue

I have a newer Moochy that you could steal from me for $1,200
...comes with a Western Family 1x2 case and TOI shaft.

I only accept paypal and please send as a gift.

Are those TOI shafts warped to the right or left?
Or does it depend on which way you hold it?

more than likely a newer "Moochy" too !

Jay,

The thing about those TOI shafts is that no matter how you hold them they compensate for all amounts of Squirt/Delfection regardless of how far off center or how hard you hit the cue ball. In every case the ball just gets pocketed...Seriously:wink:

Best to Ya &

I've been playing with a Steve Dunkel for almost 3 years. I don't think I'll ever play with another cue.

Gulyassy all day long...

Try Mike Gulyassy...If I had $1,200 to blow on a set, I'd go with him (I'd probably get a cue like Earl's with a jump/break), or I'd go back to Carolina Custom and get something set up, probably with Gulyassy SPTX shafts fit to it.

Carolina Custom gets you the nicest cue for the money, Gulyassy gets you the best engineered cue and/or shaft for the money.
