My LP Custom Cues - In Progress

I've had the pleasure of working with Lee on some cues I wanted and thought I would share some in progress photos.

60" Custom Player
I approached Lee to see if he would be interested in making a Bushka tribute as seen in this post: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=176309

I would be changing the veneer colors and some inlays, but it was along those lines.

Straight Grain Maple
Ebony Sleeve
silver ring work
Ivory ring above handle

I wanted it with a leather wrap and 60" long...both things I have never used before. The problem was that I didn't want to make an investment in a cue with all those inlays and find that I don't like the longer length and/or leather wrap. So Lee made a bare bones version of the cue in the above picture for me to experiment with before I gave the green light on having one made with the points, veneers, inlays, etc.

These were the first photos he shared with me after the stick was together (you can see Lee holding on a piece of leather in some of these photos):

And here are three photos after a few more passes (it hasn't received it's epoxy coat yet)...with an old growth rock maple shaft. I'm still deciding on a ferrule material so the shaft does not have one at this point:

I'm loving it so far!

Next up...the break cue I'm having Lee make...

Someday... I hope to have pictures of mine in progress.

Looks like it's going to work for you, eh?

Here are the break cue photos...

Purpleheart handle with some 25 year old Rosewood on the forearm and sleeve. This cue will have a Purpleheart shaft as well.

First three photos:

I certainly hope so...these are my first custom cues I've ordered and Lee has been great to work with. He stays in touch on a regular basis and has offered advice along the way on ways to improve the cues.

great j/b man. let me know if you want to sell it later lol j/k!!

It is just a break cue, not a j/b. I jump with my full length player...that is how I learned to jump balls and that is how I still do it.

I'm thinking about trying a jump cue soon...but I would rather have a dedicated jump cue than a j/b combo, that is just my personal taste.

Looks like it should turn out nicely, I like the ring at the a joint. No doubt Lee could do a nice job on the full fledged version.
Are you interested in trying a 60" cue because of your height?

I'm actually only 5'-10", but I find that I'm often holding the cue near the end or off the end on longer shots that don't require a bridge. I wanted to try a 60" and see if it that goes away or it is just a mental thing.

love the cues my friend.

I too have one on the way from Lee (my first custom as well) and after seeing your pictures, cannot wait to seeing mine as it progresses.

I can't describe how easy it was to work with Lee throughout the design process. patience, understanding, and attention to detail are the first three things that come to mind when thinking back to my dealings with him.

Again, love the cues man, i am sure they will hit as good as they look!

I was able to dig up some of the in-progress photos of the Sneaky Pete...I inserted them in the post above.

I also found a photo with all three cues and the PH shaft. Here you go!

Looks very good-

I'm seeing some very nice looking cues coming from Lee Peppers- good job Lee. I will have a cue coming from Lee myself, soon as I get my Davis Blank back. mark

New 60" Photos

Three photos after the epoxy sealer. If you look close enough, you can see Lee's sig above the handle.

The handle will have a black leather wrap when it is done.

I'm loving how this is coming along.

Updated Break Cue Photos

Some photos of the break cue with a coat of clear on it. The PH shaft still needs a few more passes before the UV treatment and collars/ferrule.
