Updated mosconi points?

Does anyone know or have a link to the updated mosconi cup points after the 10 ball tourney?

Justin Hall obviously helped himself out with his impressive performance. SVB is a lock. Dechaine got himself a few points.

Hope the team is:
SVB
Hall
Bergman
Dechaine
And Oscar D

They haven't made clear what the points will be for these events, just that they're less than some of the others.

My guess: SVB has further extended the (big) lead he already had, and Dechaine and Hall are out of contention for points anyway because they've already missed too many.

They might be out of the top 3 points contention, but the Captain gets to pick 2 players, so Mike D and Justin H might still make it. I personally would pick the top 5 in points just to make sure that those interested in playing was in, and those not interested would not get picked, but that's just me.

By my reckoning, here were the top 16 after the SBE event plus the number of points they earned in the US Open 10-Ball:

1. Shane Van Boening -- 53 points + 11 = 64
T2. Justin Bergman -- 30 + 2 = 32
T2. Scott Frost -- 30 + 0 = 30
4. Jeremy Sossei -- 29 + 3 = 32
5. Sky Woodward -- 25 + 4 = 29
6. Corey Deuel -- 24 + 8 = 32
7. Oscar Dominguez -- 19 + 0 = 19
8. Brian Deska -- 15
T9. Steve Knoll -- 14
T9. Danny Olson -- 14 + 0 = 14
T11. Mike Dechaine -- 13 + 5 = 18
T11. Joshua Roberts -- 13 + 5 = 18
T11. Alex Olinger -- 13
14. Brandon Shuff -- 12 + 2 = 14
15. Rodney Morris -- 10 + 0 = 10
16. Johnny Archer -- 9 + 3 = 12

I think Justin Hall had just 2 points before the US Open 10-Ball, and he earned 12 in that for a current total of 14.

So, I think the current standings are as follows (subject to Matchroom's confirmation):

1. Shane Van Boening -- 64
T2. Justin Bergman -- 32
T2. Jeremy Sossei -- 32
T2. Corey Deuel -- 32
5. Scott Frost -- 30
6. Sky Woodward -- 29
7. Oscar Dominguez -- 19
T8. Mike Dechaine -- 18
T8. Josh Roberts -- 18
10. Brian Deska -- 15
T11. Justin Hall -- 14
T11. Steve Knoll -- 14
T11. Danny Olson -- 14
T11. Brandon Shuff -- 14
15. Alex Olinger -- 13
T16. Johnny Archer -- 12
T16. Sal Butera -- 12
18. Rodney Morris -- 10

The remaining 3 points events are: US Open 8-Ball (Category 3), Turning Stone (Category 2), and US Open 9-Ball (Category 1). If someone were to win all 3 of those events, he would earn 65 more points.

JHall had the best performance on the mosconi team last year. He missed a few points events due to some family obligations. Anyone in the top 30 in points is eligible for the captains pick, so don't be surprised if Jhall fills one of the 5 mosconi spots.

Where have you heard or read that the wildcard picks have to be from the top 30 in points? I imagine they will be, but I haven't read that they have to be. I'm pulling for Jeanette Lee or Vivian Villarreal; they are undefeated in Mosconi Cup play.

.

I Hope to see this team, ;)

Was Scott Frost in the the US Open 10b? I dont recall seeing his name. If not, he's probably not in the the US Open 8b either. That will hurt him in points.

Yes he was in it. He lost hill hill to Josh Roberts in 1st match, then won a couple against no names. Jayson Shaw beat him 10 - 1 to put him out.

Does anyone know what events are left prior to this year's Mosconi Cup in which points can be earned?

Any idea when the final team will be announced?

I had asked that in another thread and someone replied as..

US Open 8-Ball, Turning Stone, and US Open 9-Ball.

Who else thinks we can't win? Obviously we're the underdog, but is there a US team that can pull the upset? Here's mine- SVB, Dechaine, Bergman, Hall, and Archer. I think they got a shot.

By my reckoning -- from post #5 -- here were the top 16 in the points race after the US Open 10-Ball Championship, plus the number of points they earned in the US Open 8-Ball Championship:

1. Shane Van Boening -- 64 + 8 = 72
T2. Justin Bergman -- 32 + 0 = 32
T2. Jeremy Sossei -- 32 + 0 = 32
T2. Corey Deuel -- 32 + 4 = 36
5. Scott Frost -- 30 + 2 = 32
6. Sky Woodward -- 29 + 7 = 36
7. Oscar Dominguez -- 19 + 3 = 22
T8. Mike Dechaine -- 18 + 12 = 30
T8. Josh Roberts -- 18 + 3 = 21
10. Brian Deska -- 15
T11. Justin Hall -- 14 + 0 = 14
T11. Steve Knoll -- 14
T11. Danny Olson -- 14 + 3 = 17
T11. Brandon Shuff -- 14 + 2 = 16
15. Alex Olinger -- 13
T16. Johnny Archer -- 12 + 2 = 14
T16. Sal Butera -- 12 + 0 = 12
18. Rodney Morris -- 10 + 11 = 21

So, reordering these, I think the top 10 currently are as follows (subject to confirmation when Matchroom posts their list):

1. Shane Van Boening -- 72
T2. Skyler Woodward -- 36
T2. Corey Deuel -- 36
T4. Justin Bergman -- 32
T4. Scott Frost -- 32
T4. Jeremy Sossei -- 32
7. Mike Dechaine -- 30
8. Oscar Dominguez -- 22
T9. Joshua Roberts -- 21
T9. Rodney Morris -- 21

The remaining 2 points events are: Turning Stone (Category 2) and US Open 9-Ball (Category 1). If someone were to win both of those events, he would earn 50 more points.

Mike Dechaine climbing the list!

Justin Hall didn't do himself any favors with the 2 and out(1 forfeited) at the 8b US Open.

Oscar and Rodney seems to be behind the top 5 by a good margin.

If JHall finishes high at the U.S. Open 9 ball, like he did last year, I think he will be a wild card selection for the Cup team.

I look at this whole list and say to myself no matter what combination is used we can't win

It isn't who is on the list , it is who wants to be on the list . The M Cup is the loudest event they will have played , it is the one time SVB can hear something. Experience is what the American team needs . Is Nick van den Berg a granddad yet ? He is only in his mid 30's and seems he played Kim Davenport .

Johnny Archer
Corey Deuel
Rodney Morris
Ernesto Dominguez(if he is a citizen)(plays under pressure better than Oscar)
Jeremy Sossei (because he has never been )

Sir Somebody will pick the teams anyway so why speculate .

The ideal team IMO is
1. SVB
2. Justin Hall
3. Corey Duel
4. Rodney Morris or Brandon Shuff
5. Justin Bergman
