WPC 9 ball in Qatar

Well yeehaw, how great that a world championship is going to be Twitted. On their site it mentions that the broadcaster will be “Al Kass TV Qatar”. Maybe a stream of that will be available. Couldn’t find one the last two years from that sand box that had any quality. Also curious how for a WPA World Championship they are being allowed to modify the WPA rules for the break shot:
BREAK-SHOT RULES The following rules are to be an addition to the WPA 9-Ball rules. At least three (3) object balls must either be pocketed or pass the head string as a result of a break in order for it to be legal. Any combination of the above (i.e. 1 object ball pocketed and 2 object balls passing the head string, or 2 object balls pocketed and 1 object ball passing the head string) is also legal.
Regardless of whether any balls are pocketed if a player fails to earn the required rules, it will be considered an illegal break (this is not the same as a foul break as defined in the WPA Rules) After an illegal break;
1. Opponent has the option either to accept the table as it is, or hand it back to the player that performed the break.
2. In case the opponent accepts the table as it is, the player will not be allowed to perform a push-out.
3. If the table is handed back to the player that performed the break, the player is allowed to perform a push-out.
4. If 9-ball is pocketed in a legal break, the player wins the game. If in case of an illegal break, 9-ball is re-spotted before play is continued, then opponent has an option.
Nothing like watching a guy make two balls on the break and because a 3rd didn’t pass the head string he is told he must sit down. What a dumb bastardization of the rules.

I don't think they have much choice. The break at 9 ball is broken and has been for ten years or so. When Bustamante starts using a finesse break, you know something has to be fixed.
Can't wait to see how this plays out. This tournament in my opinion is the most prestigious event for pool, but has seemed to downgraded in the past few years.

Stream-wise I imagine this will become another one of those World Championships that is poorly promoted with no straight forward way to find the stream (like god forbid a link would be available on the WPA website).
Some erstwhile hero from our forum community will probably find the link somewhere on the vast interweb, will post it up and get green rep. It will work for some of us and not for others. Oh, and I almost forgot the best part - the first link will work for one day then it won't and someone will have to track down another link, then that one won't work but the first one will again or a third one will be found. We will spend the 4-5 days bouncing around the web and checking into the thread 3 times a day to find out if anyone has found the location that is working at that moment.

Can anyone tell me the time they are starting play Saturday? I think they are 10 hours ahead so if they start at 10AM it would make it about midnight on the West Coast (PDT), but I'm not sure what time they start.

I have Al-Kass TV , I can't wait to see the tournament on TV finaly ^^ , i hope there is a way that I can put it on for you guys to watch "somehow" I'm a PC newb, so I don't think I can figure a way out to connect tv to computer or however that would work..

It's not the break that is broken imo, it's 9 ball. I say let them soft break away if your gonna play 9 ball, it's the proper way to play the game to the highest level. It's much more fair play 10 ball instead than to insert these silly rules.
I don't understand the point of having a World 9 ball AND World 10 ball championship. It's redundant and making one a call shot game isn't enough of a change to warrent calling it a completely different game. The fact is that both games require the same skill sets only in 10 ball you have to perform these skills to a higher standard.
Just tape it and send it over to me. I will convert it and upload to youtube for you.
