The only idea I would have for you is maybe an adjustable shoulder strap. Looks nice, imo.

Looks very nice, do you have any shots of the inside?

Are you planning on making other sizes, configurations in the future?

Good work.

just tryin to get my name out there, have about 5 others on order right now, let me know what u think or if u would like any. any constructive ideas welcome also

thanks

I would tinker with something entirely new. That design has been so done it just nothing special. This is not a criticism just what I would do if I was to build cases. There is nothing to set you apart there and plenty of cases like that to buy now.

yeah i wanted to get into some more of the exotic materials to kind of set me apart....but i dont see anyone selling a leather case for 250 bucks shipped. they seem to start around 350-400 and not really custom, i try and do any color or color combos, pocket sizes, interior color, etc...... and yes it is a tube interior....

the strap was very comfortable with the width that it is so i didnt make one. ive always had the pad be more of a pain and always adjusting it to fit on my shoulder. i would make one if requested anyways though...also as far as adjustable goes i am inbetween ways of making it adjustable right now.. im thinking of using a buckle and holes instead of thinner leather and the normal adjusters. i hope that makes sense. but then u have dangling leather sometimes that needs to be held down. ill post pics when i use the buckle i already have one in the making actually but i need to make sure its not a pain also.

thanks

heres one for another azer but i had to start over because the pockets didnt come out good enough so i went to hand stitching and its better now. but here is some custom painted name that i had posted here before..

thanks

looks good dude, almost ready to mold the main body of my case. I bought a 8 oz leather so making the long pocket was so tough.... it was rediculous

8 oz. is way too thick

If you have a structured case 3-4 will work. You can use 6 but you will come into weight issues. If anything is too weak at this thickness then you can reinforce it rather than trying to work with something that can't possibly bend the way you want.

I like the simplicity of your strap design. I agree with you that the width of your strap eliminates the need for a pad, and I share your feeling that the pad is a pain to keep adjusted properly. The way you're doing this strap, with it's nice tooling, gives your case some distinction.

Please post pics of the interior showing how you line the tubes. Post a weight if you can. Post pics of how the top attaches--I can't tell if it completely removes, or if it stays attached but swings to the side.

I'm very interested and may order one. Your introductory price will probably be very attractive. Do you have a website with color and tooling options?

When we use 8-10oz we wet mold it. We get the leather wet and form it around the interior and bind it into place until it dries. When it's dry it keeps the shape.

Here is an example of 8oz leather on a case we did www.jbcases.com/gunslinger.html so you can get the idea.

8oz is overkill though. I have two customers right now that have requested it specifically - other wise there is no need to use this thickness. Jim is right, it's hard to work with and it weighs a lot.

VERY nice case for the money, IMO.

If you want an adjustable strap, the belt buckle type is the way to go. As far as dangling leather goes, have you seen what IMPERIAL does with their cases? I have one at home, if you're interested I'll take some pictures to show you how they overcame that problem.

We got one case maker contributing to the thread without pimping his own work.

We got another case maker (not sure if this is true since I don't think he makes his cases so let's call him marketing manager), who, in a disguise of thread contribution, continue to pimp his own $hit by providing direct link to his own website.

Oh Lord...

He links his website in the sig, too. Call the Mod Squad! :grin-square:

Chad, I really dig on your case. And I don't usually find leather cases like yours attractive. Can't wait to see some shots of the interior and close-ups of the pockets!

if your talking about jb he has been really supportive and its a free market so he is welcome to post on my cases and provide his links. i dont mind, thanks though. in the words of joe dirt "its not what u like, its the consumer" so whatever you guys choose to do as far as cases go i dont control. i would shop around also if i was in the market and choose what i like regardless of who made it and where. thanks for having my back though. :o) he has been nothing but nice to me so far though

It's called PROVIDING EXAMPLES. When you say gee newbie case maker Chaz I'd like YOU to DO THIS and new comer Chaz says sure Mr. Jazz whatever you want but I am not quite sure yet HOW TO DO that then it's nice to have an example of HOW TO DO IT.

When other newbie case maker says gee I am having a really TOUGH TIME with my 8oz leather then it's nice to not only get advice on HOW SOMEONE ELSE HAS DONE IT - but also to SEE IT DONE.

There is a reason that I don't do just ONE STYLE of case - and this reason is so that I can learn and grow and experiment with different ways to do things. As such I have done way more in 15 years than most case makers will ever do. So when someone says hey I am having trouble with this or that then there is a good chance that I have already done it or something similar and can provide a description and better yet AN EXAMPLE.

There are a few aspiring case makers who don't post their work here, YET, that I help out often when they email me and PM me. If someone asks on a PUBLIC forum for advice then I will help them WITH EXAMPLES of whatever I did to solve the problem and if they can use it, great.

Shall I publish my order list to show you that I have enough orders to last the year and cases in design to last another half year beyond that? You think I NEED to advertise anymore right now?

I will be happy if Chaz and some of the other case makers get booked solid for years to come. I have said this MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY times; the market can sustain many more case makers. There is no way that Justis, Whitten, On Q Case, Brian Bonner, JB Cases, Chaz Dillon, Murnak and the four or five others can satisfy the demand that exists for custom cases.

A 'true' custom case is one that is a new pattern from the ground up. A semi-custom case is one that relies on an existing pattern with customer driven changes to it. Both of these methods are time consuming to design. There is a human limit to how much time you can spend designing and building cases IF you want to do it right. Hell even you want to do it wrong there are certain steps you still have to do and that takes the same amount of time whether done wrong or right.

Back in 1991 when I got started I didn't have the internet to go to, I didn't have any help from any other case makers. Now you have people like Brian Bonner, me, Jim Murnak, and plenty of leather workers to chime in and help the newbies.

So please forgive me when I say that your opinion of me means exactly NOTHING. I didn't give Chaz any criticism of the work he has done. I gave him some advice on how to do the work YOU WANT DONE.

Chaz, if you want a website you register the domain name and I will give you free space on my account. I have unlimited space and can give you a place to have a website, give you your own image gallery, your own blog etc.....

This applies to any other new case maker as well.

IF you don't want that offer may I suggest wholeheartedly that you check out Hostgator. In the past decade I have been through many hosts and these people are THE BEST. Their customer service is ALWAYS AVAILABLE and they are always right and always take care of it. On top of that their hosting packages are PACKED with useful tools that are all included at no extra charge. For like $5 a month you can get all you need and more. www.hostgator.com

I would suggest that you start by having an image gallery. Start here and use AZ's - it's free. Then you have a place where your images live and you can refer people to them or you can post them as needed. And because they live on AZ's servers they might come up faster for some folks.
