No one sells those. You're better off drilling out the threads, plugging with phenolic (or some other composite), and tapping that

Another option is to buy a brass insert blank and drill and tap that at 3/8x10

Given that pin I wouldn't consider a brass insert unless your intent is to add more weight.
Phenolic weighs next to nothing and your thread problem is solved.....forever.
Lastly, the pheno insert will improve the hit. Adding more 'dead-mass' won't.

I don't think he is concerned how his Joint protector hits.

I'll bet you couldn't. Lol
No, you did right.
For some reason I thought he was talking about threads in his shaft.
Possible carry-over in focus to the insert that I was in the process of swapping.
Doggies. Well at least he'll know how to proceed when the shaft goes. Thanx.

Just happen to think, (yeah I know, about time), this is the first time I've ever heard
of the threads stripping out of a JP. Is this something new or does it happen often ?
Since it's just a JP, forget the insert or plug, fill the hole with HARD epoxy, re-drill/tap.
Just wondering, how did this happen ?

You should be able to get the insert made.
For other's????
In 2017 McDermott offered a line of sneaky Pete's. 3/8x10 with a brass insert in the shaft.

3/8-10

I’ve seen McDermott joint caps with brass inserts...the threads was not cut deep at all..
