This may have been addressed before I joined; if so, a link to the answer would be great. Here's my question-is there any need to lubricate anything on or in the headstock of this lathe? I've had mine a few years and everything still runs fine. Couldn't find anything on line about this-time to ask the experts. Thanks!

You always want to keep things lubricated. I acquired a 90'd model hightower lathe and the bed is pitted and overall in bad shape. I use 3 in 1 on all metal to metal surfaces.

The bearings on my deluxe are sealed, so no lubing those. All that I can lube on the headstock are the chucks every so often. I take them apart, clean and grease and reassemble. The bed is obvious, along with the tailstock quill. I use ATF-3 tranny fluid for the bed and just about everything.

Thanks to both of you who responded. I wondered about the chucks; I'll need to learn how to disassemble, clean and grease. Thanks again to both of you!
