Cool video. I'd say use both eyes. Your brain uses images from both eyes to create a perception of 3D. Using one eye would probably be ok only if you were holding your cue directly in front of that eye, like sighting down a rifle barrel or looking through a scope. But unlike a rifle, a pool player holds the cue stick at the side of their body with their head anywhere from several inches to a couple of feet above the shaft.

There are several good video clips concerning alignment or focus for the shot. Here's one that was posted in another tread about focus and alignment.

Thanks, I'll be watching all these for sure.

I took a lot of time out almost a year ago to find out what straight actually is to my eyes and I can bet my life I know what it looks like but to find it shot after shot comfortably without having to sqweeze it out of perception is another thing all together.

What I discovered last night was, it took me about 15 minutes to set up a long straight in truly straight. Try to do it with out any measuring aids and don't look down the line with your dominant eye until you think it's straight.

It really helps perception. Stand next to the line, to the side of the line while trying to set up the straight in. Give it a good effort and strain your perception and after you do it once, now go back and play some pool and I think you'll be quite surprised.
