10 Ball and 14.1

Just a question I had to ask regarding these two games. I only ask this because someone at my pool hall brought it up and I could not understand his reasoning. He was basically saying that 10 ball is a 10 ball rack of 14.1. I on the other hand just look at it as a rotation game with 14.1 call safe/call shot rules. He was still very adamant that 10 ball plays more like 14.1 but again, i did not get his reasoning.

maybe he was not getting his point across well and I'm hoping someone here has had the same conversation/opinion of the subject to better explain it to me.

Well, maybe he meant that there is less luck in 10 ball than nine ball. There are, however, five or six different rule sets for 10 ball. I think you have to ask him to explain better if you really, really need to know what he meant.

I don't see the correlation between any rotation game and the game of straight pool
But I don't play rotation
